Not a local observation, but was looking at SAT imagery early this morning and said to myself "Self, that looks like an awfully potent Low pressure in the Gulf of Alaska for this time of year"...

Aqua MODIS Air Mass images provided impressive visuals of cyclogenesis across the Gulf of Alaska yesterday (August 21) into this morning (August 22)! Most recently the central pressure was analyzed to 987mb, and is currently producing gale force winds and significant wave heights in excess of 20ft (6m).

86°/70°.  Blah, another muggy day.  Hope this isn't one of those years where it doesn't cool down until mid october.  I can't stand much more of this weather.  I need to move somewhere cooler.

There were some small popcorns shower around the upstate earlier, but those have dissapated for the most part.  Everything seems to be concentrated down towards the midlands.  HRRR loves some sparklecity storms though so we will see if it is correct.

I wouldn't put all your eggs in the HRRR basket yet lol. Sometimes it does an awesome job, while other times it's complete dog poop. The cells that are out there are put much anchored in place. That one near Brevard isn't going anywhere.

Relying on the HRRR for accurate rain predictions, is like having the NAM being the only model showing snow! It's muggy out dp 72

HRRR has the storms moving through GA falling apart completely upon entering SC.  NAM looks completely different.

I think the last time mby had a storm >2" was last year when I was on vacation.  We ended up getting almost 5" that night and of course I wasn't there.  Stuff like that never happens when I'm around.

It's going to be hard for that complex to hold together, the atmosphere was raked over good last night and very little heating this morning due to cloudiness. The skies need to heal from last night, there was some remarkable rainfall to my N and W by 3-5 miles!!

Already falling apart some. The system doesn't look near as good as it did an hour ago.
