Geos
Up to 87°. The backing down of the dewpoints are helping a little. 67° currently, unlike 70-73° yesterday.
cyclone77
88 with a nice breeze and dews in the upper 60s. Not too bad out there. Looks like MLI has had 8 90 degree days so far this year. Hottest was 94 on July 25th.
hawkeye_wx
We had a shot at 90 both Saturday and Sunday, but we'll be a bit short both days. I'm looking forward to a few days in the 70s this week, although it doesn't look as wet around here as it did earlier. We could all use a good soaking. Chitown Storm
Good soaker coming in tonight. Flash Flood Adv for up to 3". Temps already down into the upper 70s here with upper 60s in W MN and parts of eastern Dakotas.
Spartman
Topped out at 87. Could be the highest we may go for this month, even halfway through.
Chitown Storm
Models handled tonight's rain very poorly. Rain already wrapping up and only .4" in the gauge. Flood advisory cancelled. Yikes.

Geos
High of 88° here. Dewpoints dropped back to the mid 60s, so the heat wasn't quite as oppressive as yesterday. Still only one day above 90° this year.
Brewers
00z GFS drops the low down to 990mb over Lake Superior on Wednesday. 925mb temps fall below 10C around here, Might only be in the lower 60's Wednesday afternoon if there is no sun. ClicheVortex2014
GFS has another trough coming in, except dipping into the upper MW and shooting off to the NE. The departure of the short wave introduces some "steeper" lapse rates to the rest of the Midwest (only 6.5-7 c/km)

Chinook
Anyone remember what happened 10 years ago today? August 18 2005 was 5 days before Tropical Depression 12 (Atlantic) got designated as a tropical depression. This went on to become Hurricane Katrina. CanadianGuy
The 10 year anniversary of Katrina's landfall is coming up too.. August 29th, 2005 was such as tragedy. Much of Lower 9th Ward is still a mess today. I guess that's what can happen when you live in a city below sea level with crumbling levees. hawkeye_wx
This system was a dud for Cedar Rapids. The first and second parts of the system dumped rain to the nw and the last one hit east and south where there was instability. I have 0.18" in my gauge, one of the bigger city totals. Some model runs suggested we could be split, so it's not entirely unexpected, but it's still disappointing. Lack of instability has put the kibosh on most of the severe chances here this season. CanadianGuy
The lowest high temp record for today is in jeopardy for MSP. 61 is the record. Today's point has a high of 62. Octoberish for sure. Today was the first below freezing day since June 7th in Berthoud Pass, Colorado. Autumn and winter are coming, like it or not. On a bright note, I'm certainly looking forward to bug free days and lake effect snows.
Geos
Great day outside. Little cloudy, but the atmosphere is drier out. 73°/56° currently. @ Canadian Guy - I was at 11,000 feet in Colorado and there was patchy frost in the mountain meadows early in the morning the last week of July! Some places, some years can get frosts anytime of summer.
