weatherbo
Bo, nothing like killing off ragweed in late August. For damn sure! Golden rod capital of the world here. It's about 2 1/2 weeks past their full bloom. Wow, is that 32F legit? I'm pretty sure it was. I'd bet there were even colder spots. Even tho it was 71 today, the air isn't summer anymore, and the lower sun angle is keeping my house in the shade most of the day now.
michsnowfreak
3rd consecutive day of overcast skies and highs in the 60s. Such a tease for Fall!
Geos
Went 50 days since the last sub 50° low here on July 8th. High of of 70° today. Onshore breeze kept it from getting too warm.
Jonger
Wow, is that 32F legit? I have been through that area extensively... I don't doubt it for a moment. NOAA should put a weather station there, it would provide the most pristine measurements possible today and for the next 500 years.

Geos
1-2 day rainfall. Ceiling really lowering here - looks like rain soon.
hawkeye_wx
Up to 9 inches of rain has fallen in part of central Iowa northwest of Ames today.
hawkeye_wx
It has been a pretty disappointing evening. A solid line of heavy rain pooped out as it reached Cedar Rapids, so instead of 1-2" it's only about 0.50". The following is a flash flood spotter report from nw of Ames earlier today. I thought it was a prank at first, but a map confirmed it. FLOODWATERS FROM LONG DICK CREEK ARE 6 INCHES DEEP...AND FLOWING...ON 340TH STREET 1/4 MILE WEST OF XIRCUS AVE. Geos
Except a few showers earlier, no steady rain yet. Taking its sweet time getting in here tonight. I like hearing the sound of steady rain, hopefully it will be here by the time I go to bed.
wisconsinwx
I'm glad I don't care much about stratiform rain, because if this was a snowstorm, it would've been a major bust and a good reason to use a winter complaint thread lol.

Radar estimates well over an inch for the CR area, with 2"+ just north of town. So far just 0.03" here, but event is just getting going.

So far just 0.03" here, but event is just getting going. I think it was overestimation due to the bright banding of mod-heavy rain. MKX mentioned LOT and MKX radars were overestimating the precip anyways.

hawkeye_wx
I finished with 0.82", better than expected. A few miles north totals were 1.2+", while the airport south of town only got 0.49". My August total will finish at 2.41". It was nice to get a decent soaking ahead of next week's warmth.
Geos
Picked up 1.00" this morning. Looks like the rain is done for awhile. It's cool out there with an damp east wind.
Chitown Storm
Hazy sun coming out here. The sunshine has a weird dark orange hue to it due to the haze and smoke. Almost looks like it's pre-dusk outside at 12:30. Upper 80s to near 90 all of next week and bone dry just in time for the MN state fair. Nothing better than a deep fried pork chop on a stick and an ice cold beer in the heat.
Geos
It has looked like an hour before sundown here today. Holding steady at 66°. Rain from this morning still clinging to vegetation.
CanadianGuy
Autumn is three days away.. I'm currently sitting at 72/62 imby. Several days of 80s are forecast next week. Most trees are showing some signs of color change, with silver maples showing the most color. A few leaves have begun to drop onto my deck/pool. This is about ten days earlier than normal. Geos
Starting to see a few trees here and there with a little yellow now. My birch trees are starting to drop some leaves. Up to 4.59" of rain for the month, makes it the 5th month in a row with 4"+.

cyclone77
0.07" late yesterday evening, and another 0.73" after midnight for a 0.80" total here. That brings the monthly total to 3.07". Gonna finish summer 2015 with over 20" of rain. 8.90"/8.37"/3.07" for a total of 20.34" in June/July/August. Pretty impressive summer total. You'd never know it had been a very wet summer by looking at some of the area rivers and streams. The Rock River just outside of town is about as low as it gets. Geos
Forecast was for 70s today, but doesn't look like that will be achieved unless the clouds break up. Onshore flow and high dewpoints are keeping the fog and haze near the lake today.
Geos
Had some smoke in the sky late in the day today. In fact I think I can smell it in the air. Edit: If you're local - look up and see if you can see an orange Moon!
