powderfreak
Sprinkles falling in Woodstock right now, light breeze and feels a little damp. Lucked out with an awesome day yesterday. Soon it's back to reality and work up on VT's highest peak. Was a fun 3-day weekend vacation down in SNE.
Ginx snewx
Superb day yesterday volunteering umpiring for the Animal rescue groups fundraiser. Worked 8 am to 8 Pm, fields were puddled up when we got there, lots of work to get in shape but only started a half hour late. Only a trace of rain at my house all week. JC-CT
Outside of SW CT and Hartford metro, it's very rural. Esp windham and litchfield counties. CT is a pretty interesting in that it has a lot of population at a moderately high density living in forested areas. Tolland and Middlesex Counties both actually have a higher percentage of land that is forested than Windham County, but also higher population densities. It is not exactly rural in a traditional sense in that residents in these areas (including Litchfield and Windham Counties) are often commuting to one of the surrounding major urban areas, but it is not urban by any means. Having been around the country, I haven't seen many areas like it outside of SNE.
forkyfork
Man Woodstock, CT does remind me of VT. Farm stands every where, rolling hills, white church on a big town green, dairy farms, etc. Nice day up on the hill at 77F. image.jpg Blueberry picking and cider donuts. image.jpg i'd be suicidal after 5 minutes

powderfreak
Just saw it snowed in the high parts of calgary alberta must be awesome to have snow in the summer Snowed in Banff, Alberta too... but they are pretty far north and on the Continental Divide. This must be early around Calgary but seeing as they are on the east slope plaines where cold air can easily work its way south (probably the first major city in Canada to see snowflakes each year), not overly surprising. I know Calgary has had some big September snowfalls at least in the western suburbs. They probably get more snow in the fall than they do in the winter when it gets too cold and the jet stream is way south of there, lol (only semi-joking, would be interesting to see their climo numbers). Edit, actually looks like there is some stats to back up that claim. November last year was the snowiest month of the winter. And annually, November, March, and April are the snowiest months. Not surprising seeing as its probably "too cold" (as its said) in the winter to snow heavily. Even September averages around 2 inches of snow, and that's the city, not the high terrain in the western suburbs and over towards the Rockies. powderfreak
Looking due north up the ridge this morning...the Spine separates the drier air off to the west, with a thick stratus layer stuck on the east side.

RUNNAWAYICEBERG
Summer weather sucks...boring pattern is perfect so I can tee it up. But this summer has been by far the worst summer in my life for personal reasons. I need to flip the calendar to winter and get on with it. tamarack
NJ is lol except for the Ramapo mtns on west. If one can ignore a 30-mile-wide strip between NYC and PHL (the "Corridor State"), NJ is quite nice - glaciated hills and abundant lakes to the NW, farms, pineys, and beaches to the SE. (Though this last would be a lot nicer if one did not have to compete with so many other drivers trying to get to/from them.)
Typhoon Tip
73/70 drizzle Sent from my iPhone There's a meso-scale pocket of butt-banger weather that's inundating just Boston and it's immediate surrounding 'burbs. Might be some brightening in there, but rad depicts annoying small showers. You go more than 20 mies W-N-S of that cluster-f it's partly sunny with fair weather towers and awesome. Sorry.
