brohnhdon Posted July 17, 2015 Share Posted July 17, 2015 I see many users here frequently stay updated to NWS AFDs...that inspired me to create this tool: All, I took some time earlier today to implement something I've been wanting for a long time; a simple way to view NWS area forecast discussions. I first put together my own CWA map that is fully clickable...just like the one on the NWS website, but more exact. Then instead of taking you to a forecast page like the NWS site, my AFD browser directly displays that WFO's most recent AFD product. Additionally, I've also added the capability to overlay the current SPC D1 outlook...this allows for very quick awareness of all WFO's takes' on the current severe weather situation. In the near future I plan on adding overlays of D2, D3, and D4-8 SPC products (including fire products), WPC excessive rainfall products, and snowfall forecast products. My intentions with this tool are for users to be able to efficiently gather the information all WFO's put out in any concentrated areas of interest (fire, severe, hydro, and winter).
