nzucker
12z GFS kills most of the heat with a big cold front ripping through Tuesday, and then high pressure developing to our northeast with a little bit of a backdoor pattern.

Typhoon Tip
Yeah, the Euro has another plume of EML with 850's amply heated severing off from the high plains/SW states and passing through the Lakes in route to New England. I think it might have legs ...though obviously sans details. The tele's that can mean anything at all to a summer circulation are entering warm modes as we speak, lasting perhaps 10 to 12 days before collapsing if perhaps a manifestation of their correction schemes (code for a dumb thing to do to a model...) Anyway, the GFS oper. has had a resurging height bulge into the Lakes during the same run up days, ...some runs more obviously than others, post the flat cool back. But it keeps normalizing it flat and collapsing whatever heat plumes get ejected S, toward the MA. This last ...albeit brief and not fully realized EML (which it was, btw) was also modeled at times by all models actually to do that but it didn't. We'll see. If the NAO does go that positive, the westerlies could/ if perhaps should lift and we may yet see some retrograde of WAR up underneath. I've always wonder how hot it could get in Boston with a retrograding WAR timing happenstance on top of a 22C Sonoran expulsion into that circulation. downeastnc
There's NC summer normal then there's SNE summer normal Right so your normal will be awesome to me, even mid 80's with DP's in the 60's will feel good but I would love mid 70's with DP in the 50's....but we are well above normal here this summer its the worst one in a while, the last 2 summers we barely broke 90 and it was nice all summer by our standards....but this summer for the last month and half we have been lucky to have a few days with highs lower than 90 and heat indexs under a 100. I would be upset if I got up there and its 88-93 with high dews the week I am there lol....

CoastalWx
Boston the worst place for cool air? August is no relief on the south coast either. They have some of the highest dewpoints in all of SNE. Nothing says A/C like 85/74.

Yeah where I am staying is maybe a mile or two from the end of the long runway at Westover.....I will spend most of my time in the greater Springfield/Hartford area since that's where most of the family is. Boston will just be a couple of day trips....my grandmothers house where I am staying doesn't have central air or even a window unit......how do you people live lol.....we usually go up in the spring or fall its been 20 years since I was up there in the summer. here is the local airport obs for the last 3 days here, we had a heck of a storm a few hrs ago so its nice out but still muggy, the next 3 days we are forecasted to actually be below normal for our highs. Hopefully I don't bring this crap with me http://w1.weather.gov/data/obhistory/KPGV.html

I lived there for 2 years and never had AC, a couple of days a year were uncomfortable but mostly daily sea breeze city.
