Forecast of 81F today and mid-80s next two days. It will be interesting to see how it feels haha. Last above normal day was 6/23 (+1F). Tomorrow or Monday has a slight shot.

I know a few people who admitted to turning the heat on in their cars yesterday morning. I was at the Tigers game last night, sitting directly in the sun, and it wasnt hot at all. Granted it was evening, but I even said to my friend, can you believe its July? As soon as the sun went down, the light cool breeze felt great. Three years ago today DTW set a record high of 102F.

I've turned on the heat in the car a few times this "Summer."

And I have yet to set up the home air conditioner. Before, it would be set up by mid or late May.

I haven't even had to open the window very much so far.

Three years ago today DTW set a record high of 102F.

And that same 102*F day gave way to one of my favorite long-duration severe weather events (2 distinct rounds of severe weather).

The 1st round featured profilic hailstorms throughout majority of the Detroit area, while the 2nd round was a widespread damaging wind event.

80 here today with plenty of hazy sun.

Smoky sunset again tonight.

Awesome photo. Nice timing with the bird taking off.

Noticed the smoke in the atmosphere today too. Warming up through the mid 70s.

Little bit warmer last night at 54°.

Thank you sir.

Fantastic 4th in the works here.  Temps near 80, with full sun and a light breeze.  A great day to get toasted in the sun.  Happy 4th everyone.

The Euro has consistently been advertising some extreme cape building in the western portion of our sub next weekend.  The latest run has a large blob of cape maxed out on weatherbell's color chart (6000j/kg) over almost all of Iowa next Sunday the 12th.  So I guess we can assume the NAM would indicate 10000j/kg if it could go out that far lol.

Still a long ways off, but it's nice to see some real heat/summertime instability back in the medium-range.

Never thought I'd say this (weather-wise), but I'd love to be in Seattle right now...

Bear in mind they hit 90*F+ yesterday and the day before...

Bleh... I enjoy heat, but I'll take average to below average temps if it means that we'll have an active storm pattern. I couldn't live in the west US - the weather is way too boring. It's generally either sun, clouds, or stratiform rain.

Yeah the NW is baking these days. Very unusual this kind of heat just keeping going and going for Seattle and Portland.

I would definitely agree ClicheVortex that the West lacks good t-storm activity. You have to be in certain areas to get some unique weather patterns. Probably the most interesting weather in the west is found in the Pacific NW and Northern Rockies on our side of the border. Those big autumn storms that slam OR and WA are pretty exciting to watch if you're on the coast.

High of 77° today with a touch more humidity. Great day!

It just seems these last few years you get these patterns that do not break setup. They have had this perpetual high all summer baking them while we've had nothing but troughiness on a NW flow

I think this is a bit cool, due to the fireworks here locally and around Chicago. MDW, ORD, DTW and PTK are all calling smoke observations.

Considered putting it in the 18z TAF but decided against it because a check on obs for the past 10 years showed that it doesn't occur every year at ORD and MDW and is typically more common at MDW. Definitely cool to see though.

Ended up being an A+ outdoor day. Landscapers finished making my new beds, moving plants, and mulching yesterday. Was able to mow this morning and enjoy this awesome day. Grilled, ate outside, and enjoyed playing bocce ball and a new game called Kübb. (It sounds crazy but is a real fun game)

I know some will rip my tongue out for mentioning it (poor IKK), but could use some rain so that my new sod and transplanted lilacs take off.

That is really cool, I noticed earlier that all the smoke from the fireworks seemed to cascade downwards and just kind of sit everywhere.

Much of the region decoupled quickly this evening, so there was a low level inversion that allowed for the smoke to stay close to the ground and linger. There was noticeable smoke/fog here at 2AM when I drove home.

Skies seems really milky colored here as well.

Article on the fires in Saskatchewan. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/saskatchewan/saskatchewan-wildfires-force-nearly-8-000-people-out-of-homes-1.3138560

114 active fires as of yesterday just in northern SK. I guess our smoky skies will continue until the NW flow changes or the fires burn themselves out.

There was a paper that came out a while back about how the smoke from Mexico fires enhanced the 4/27/2011 tornado outbreak (met with some criticism because it used an event that was so prolific).  If the fires persist, perhaps the smoke will stick around in the atmosphere during some severe weather setups.  If we get an anomalous tornado outbreak, we'll have something to blame.  :guitar:

I do know for certain the smoke can sometimes help when it comes to cloud seeding.

Cloud seeding is at least known to enhance rainfall.
