With the record wet six week period we have just had, any heatwave we get this month will be accompanied with excessively high dews/oppressive humidity. I reckon today is a good example of this for IL, IA, MN.. Maybe the overall cool pattern is a blessing in disguise.

A high of 106 is impressive enough, but that it was paired with a dewpoint of 76.  Just wow.

Euro continues to indicate an even more expansive, and also extremely unstable air mass this weekend over much of the MW.  Maxed out values on weatherbell (>6000j/kg surface cape) over a huge region.  This time it looks like a major cap keeps most of the buoyancy under wraps.  Something interesting to watch as the week goes on at least.

A tree in the park did not care for this mornings convection and decided to lay down.

The storm drains have been working overtime with all this rain.

Adding insult to injury, it is about to start raining here, again.

Last I checked the models, this weekend definitely seemed like a decent severe weather setup (including here). Even with the cap, all it will take is a MCV or enhanced zone of convergence to get things going.

Furthermore, if things play out right, it could be the first heatwave of the season for some of us.

But we'll see.

Yeah, we'll see.  Just glad to have some additional action to look forward to.  Sometimes after one of these bigger events it quiets down for awhile.

Ended up with 0.67" of rain here today.  High hit 92, with the highest dew of 81.

Besides possible storminess at times, looks like more opportunities for 80 degree dews coming up.  Tim rejoices.
