are those false returns south of LI?

 

 

The OKX radar detects something (that looks like rain) directly east of Point Pleasant NJ. Tnd the DIX radar does not detect anything there. It looks like it is mostly clear with cirrus clouds in that area.

Those are false returns, happens all the time in summer with warm humid air over the ocean. Notice the echos by and large remain over the same place.

Thermodynamic parameters aren't bad. > 2000 J/KG MUCAPE, good LI's and decent LL lapse rates. Kinematics are lacking which is why we're seeing more of the pulse mode convection.

 

In other news, missed a heat wave once again. 88.5F today.

It was just started to warm up well through the 80s right before the rain came. Would of made it if it held off another hr or so.
