Nino summers are usually cooler any heat will be short lived.

If some past El Niño summers with very warm ENSO Region 1+2 anomalies are representative, the following kind of outcome would be plausible:

 

July 16-31: 3-5 90° days (consistent with modeling)

 

August: 1°-2° below normal

1-3 90° days

10 or more days with high temperatures less than 80° (most during the 2nd half of the month)

 

It will be interesting to see how August 2015 turns out.

some el ninos had very cool temperatures at the end of August...since 1950 the coldest temperature ever for August happened in 1965, 1976, 1982, 1986...All four years tied the record for the coolest temperature for August...All four years were developing el ninos...

Yes. I just used the strongest ones at this point in time. 1982 was rapidly developing. Just outside the City there were many 40s on the morning of August 29.

HEALTH ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDS SCHEDULING FREQUENT REST BREAKS

IN SHADED OR AIR CONDITIONED ENVIRONMENTS.

SENIORS AND THOSE WITH CHRONIC HEALTH PROBLEMS OR MENTAL HEALTH

CONDITIONS ARE AT AN INCREASED RISK. HOMES WITHOUT AIR

CONDITIONING CAN BE MUCH HOTTER THAN OUTDOOR TEMPERATURES.

There was a little sunshine in White Plains about a half hour ago, but it had become cloudy when I was leaving.

 

Taking a bit longer than i had thought but more pronounced clearing working its way east now.  Next hour should bsee more sun.
