SBCAPE OF 1000 J/KG LIFTING NORTH INTO SRN PORTIONS OF THE CWA NORTH
OF THE WARM FRONT. ONLY LIGHT LIGHTNING ACTIVITY SO FAR...BUT
ACTIVITY OVER SERN VA WILL MOVE NORTH AND NEW ACTIVITY WILL
DEVELOP IN SRN MD THEN INTO CNTRL MD AND N-CNTRL VA. CURRENT
THOUGHT IS SEVERE/TORNADO THREAT WILL EXPAND TO EAST SIDE OF BLUE
RIDGE.

FLASH FLOOD RISK. THE METRO AREAS ARE PARTICULARLY SENSITIVE...SO
THE DC METRO WAS INCLUDED FIRST IN A WARNING. SUBSEQUENT WARNINGS
WILL BE BASED ON EXCESSIVE RAINFALL THAT IS EXPECTED TO COVER MANY
AREAS.

TORNADO WATCH FOR STAFFORD SOUTH AND SRN MD WITH CURRENT ACTIVITY

SLOWLY MOVING EAST FROM THE INTERSTATE 95 CORRIDOR. THE WARM

FRONT IS ROUGHLY FROM S-CNTRL MD BACK DOWN THE I-95

CORRIDOR...THEN OVER TO WV. WARM FRONT WILL CONTINUE TO DRIFT NORTH

AND THE TORNADO/SEVERE THREAT WILL EXPAND NW WITH THE WARM FRONT.

Just drove back from PA along Route 15 and then 270 - was pretty brutal.

So are we completely done after this line or are we expecting more to form? Looks pretty boring after this line of rain.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but haven't we been waiting for some "boring" all day?

20Z SPC SWODY1 UPDATE

...20Z DAY-1 FORECAST UPDATE...

NO PARTICULARLY SUBSTANTIAL CHANGES HAVE BEEN MADE TO THE ONGOING
FORECAST. THE 10-PERCENT-TORNADO AREA IN THE MID-ATLANTIC HAS BEEN
EXTENDED SLIGHTLY ESEWD/SEWD ACROSS PARTS OF ERN VA/MD WHERE MODEST
SFC HEATING IS CONTRIBUTING TO DESTABILIZATION IN THE STRONGLY
SHEARED ENVIRONMENT. THIS MAY LOCALLY ENHANCE THE TORNADO POTENTIAL
AS UPSTREAM CONVECTION AFFECTS THESE AREAS. MINOR ADJUSTMENTS HAVE
BEEN MADE TO THE MRGL/SLGT CONTOURS OVER THE UPPER OHIO VALLEY
REGION AND VICINITY TO ACCOUNT FOR CURRENT FRONTAL POSITIONS -- W OF
WHICH SVR RISK DIMINISHES. SLGT AND MRGL AREAS WERE EXTENDED EWD
ACROSS PARTS OF NRN MN WHERE SVR HAIL WILL BE POSSIBLE AHEAD OF A
VORT MAX ADVANCING SEWD TOWARD THE AREA.
