Mrs.J
I noticed that the wind came from the East at times, as well as a downward motion in the most intense gusts, so you may be right. There were times when the wind came from the East up here. I know because it hit the front of the house and it faces East.
mappy
Nice 1.1" in just 30 minutes. Had 5.5inch a hour rates for a bit. Sun coming back out now
Ian
Time to start tracking Saturday as these move out of the area Ian on twitter earlier was talking about timing issues but that it still looked pretty good. Maybe today's the start of a stretch of performers.
EastCoast NPZ
Nada. Absolute nada. If my backyard was an NFL player, it'd be Heloti Ngata.

Ian
Quite a few rotating cells up north. Actually a fair number of storms total today with supercell structure.
Kmlwx
Maybe today's the start of a stretch of performers. Let's hope for some excitement. Today was a good start. Even though it was just very loud thunder here it was still a nice storm - better than garden variety.

PrinceFrederickWx
Storm was pretty meh overall. Light winds, no hail, 0.34" total- I got more than that in like 10 seconds in the storm on Monday (and that one wasn't even warned). But I got a double rainbow afterwards:
dailylurker
I enjoyed seeing some real storms for a change. Hopefully a rumble rumble later tonight.
EastCoast NPZ
Wow Famartin, those are great. Meanwhile in DC, we're doing what we do best... Clouds IMG_1775.JPG IMG_1777.JPG and damage IMG_1778__1.jpg Lol. Hilarious. I doubt that I could find even that much damage... maybe I could post pics of brown spots in the yard or sunburn on my neck.
Kmlwx
The cell entering Frederick County, MD looks like it has a hook on it. Some good velocity scans too. Could go tor warned?

high risk
regardless of whether a svr threat materializes, the threat for torrential rain will be there (assuming that the track is being properly captured). the 18z NAM nest has what looks to be an 8"+ bullseye in 6 hours in northern VA Saturday night. Looks like upslope enhancement. Time to start tracking Saturday as these move out of the area Ian on twitter earlier was talking about timing issues but that it still looked pretty good.
