Was wondering if anyone knows? Is the weather related to bat behavior?I've noticed the lightning bugs are more this season but in the mean time i've seen less bats, actually i haven't seen any around dusk time this year.Just curious.

I know in several states there has been a fungus growing in caves that is really doing a number on bat populations. Maybe that has hit your area as well.

Figure we all have strong feelings about what happened in Chattanooga, to our region and to our country, last week. Thank you from Chattanooga for the support. No politics or policy on the weather side, but here is my main Facebook post followed by the names of our fallen heroes:

Yesterday in Chattanooga was one of those days with slightly lower humidity, and bright sunshine made the trees appear a little greener below the deep blue sky. The peaceful lake is so ironic; just a few miles away terror struck. Our hearts break for the 4 Marines and 1 Navy Sailor, some of whom made it through Afghanistan and Iraq tours including fierce battles around Fallujah, murdered here on home soil. Chattanooga Police make us so proud, with professionalism and valor, engaging the shooter through a barrage of rapid fire and saving many lives. Let us now repeat the grace and dignity Charleston SC showed; stay kind to everyone. We support the families of the victims with our love, thoughts, prayers, actions and deeds. Funds are accepting donations. We are #Chattanoogastrong and stand united!

Excellent post! This event touched home for us as well. There are two marines in our family and Chattanooga is just a quick ride up 75.

Hey guys!

Haven't been around much since winter... I get bored with summer weather and struggle to find things to talk about on my FB page. :-)

Headed up to Cobbly Nob (NE of Gatlinburg) to our regular cabin this Friday, looking forward to getting back to mountains that are covered with trees. We spent 6 days out in Las Vegas a couple of weeks ago, and the scenery is very different there! It looked like someone just took all the vegetation off of the mountains and just left the rocks. :-) Beautiful in its own way, just different from what I'm use to seeing! :-) Two of these shots are from Red Rock Canyon just outside Vegas.

Even got a decent shot of the Grand Canyon from 36,000 feet!

Nice pictures! Is that Red Rock Canyon or Valley of Fire? Both are great if it is not too hot. Throw in Mount Charleston and plenty of nature awaits near Vegas if one is not into gambling and shows. Then of course a little farther out the Grand Canyon and some of the Utah parks beckon. Welcome back to the green Smokies.

That was Red Rock Canyon. We had a packed week of shows, Red Rock, Hoover Dam, etc, etc. I needed a rest when I got back to Atlanta. :-)

I added my pictures and a few videos beginning here with Day 1 through Day 3 - http://northgeorgiaweather.weebly.com/my-own-blog/vegas-day-1

Thanks for sharing the whole trip. Wow they really built up the Strip with City Centre! (or whatever it is called now) How could I forget Hoover Dam and the new bridge? I loved my Hoover Dam tour but only saw contruction of the bridge beginning. Guess now we start countdown to leaves changing around here.

Thanks Marietta. I read the memorial service for US Marine Lance Cpl. Squire K. "Skip" Wells was held in Marietta. Pls give a little Semper Fidelis to the Marines in your family.

I didn't know he was from Marietta, after reading more his final resting place appears to be the National cemetary in Canton, GA. It is a beautiful place that sits up in the foothills of the applachains looking out towards the north at the higher mountain peaks in the distance. The area is very peaceful It also happens to be the final resting place of my uncle who was a marine as well. During the funeral processions it is common to have the locals show their respect by draping flags over the interstate overpasses as well as firemen and locals who are standing with hats over their hearts on the side of the routes and on the overpasses. The amount of respect that the locals of the area show is inspiring and amazing.

Im not in the TN Valley but I live on the GA/AL border so I figure I would start posting in here if thats ok. Most of the people in the southeast forum live in the Carolinas. I think the Carolinas should have their own forum and another one for GA, AL, and TN.

Welcome aboard, snowstorm!
