Subtropics
Day late so I do apologize.. but Hurricane season is finally upon us! Water temperatures off the mid-atlantic remain frigid, but south of Hatteras is over 80 degrees and warming by the day. Let's see what we have in store for us this year! PrinceFrederickWx
There are already more posts in this thread than the number of named storms we will see this season.
Kmlwx
Well if that Yucatan thing develops we could get remnants I guess based on the model tracks. Flooding and #wedges.
Bob Chill
Well if that Yucatan thing develops we could get remnants I guess based on the model tracks. Flooding and #wedges. Too bad the ridge axis isn't further to the east off the coast. Hypothetical remnants streaming up into ms valley area and approaching from west of the apps wouldn't be as tasty as running up the piedmont. Hopefully it makes our weather interesting later this week either way.
AvantHiatus
You don't need much of a trigger in mid June for interesting weather. Meanwhile, water temperatures will be boiling by August if this keeps up.
Subtropics
So it just so happens that I'm in Houston Texas this week. Looks like I'll be seeing some tropical action when Big Bad Bill decides to pay a visit mid week. I'll see if I can get down to Galveston to maximize this thing, but it'll probably be the rains that are issue here. I'm setting the bar for me to personally measure tropical storm 1 minute sustained winds at surface level. If I can record that, I'll consider it a victory. yoda
Pretty good agreement I would say... for up here that is IMO...
Kmlwx
Certainly will be absorbed into another system by that point. We'll see if we can cash in on heavy rainfall.
smokeybandit
Hopefully just some good ole soaker rain, not the 2" per hour rates I've been getting lately.
Bob Chill
If there's still some decent circulation left by the time it passes, being se as it approaches has potential for at least interesting weather. Hard to say if any punch will be left. Prob not much but we can hope.
Subtropics
And finally Bill is officially born. Houston has an eery tropical feel tonight. Smells like the ocean and the skies are beautiful with a gusty on and off breeze.
Kmlwx
06z GFS takes the remnant 500 vort from Bill essentially right over the DC area (whatever is left of it at least).
