Amped
Storm blew up on radar, getting rain and thunder now.
high risk
definitely a weak front just to the north, but it's been there all day, and nothing organized has formed. All of a sudden, things are firing at a time of day that should be less favorable, so that implies some sort of shortwave approaching. frontal boundary nearby? yoda
Also helps that per 03z mesoanalysis, DC has about 25kts effective shear... 1000 SBCAPE... 1000 MLCAPE.. and -3 to -4 LIs at this hour

Mrs.J
How much in the bucket did you get? Well I just came down to check and my station just went past midnight, so it dumped my readings... I would say close to half an inch at least though.

AvantHiatus
The overall pattern is almost ring of fire'ish. Plenty of potential every day for garden variety.
famartin
Was asleep but got woken up 30-40 minutes ago by quite a lot of lightning and thunder. Its mostly ended (still a few flashes but little thunder) but now its raining. Hoping to keep up the recent pattern of good rains; I just planted my 7th new tree in my new yard today, not counting 19 arbovitae I used to screen my weather station from the neighbors. The more it rains, the less I need to water.
StudentOfClimatology
Did DCA drop below 80F at all last night? The 530am number was 80/71. Dewpoints are in the low/mid 70s areawide this morning..more typical of July/August than June around here.

BlizzardNole
Finally got a direct hit from a cell a few hours ago and managed to pull in 0.5" (that's real good for us). I planted a few new flowers yesterday and dang the soil was so dry it was like sand. Hope we get lucky a few more times this upcoming week. famartin
Am I the only one who would like to see a forecast with NO mention of rain for about a week? Rain=good. Besides, I have planted 21 arbovitae and 7 trees in the last week or so (and plan to plant a few more) so the more rain, the less watering I have to do
