June gloom or glory? Pattern discussion moving into the first month of met summer

Just going by the LR stuff I've seen. Not a single one has gone BN or even normal. Most are slightly AN.. That would signify to me a decent chance at storminess and higher humidity ESP with regard to nighttime lows. I hope no one besides Steve is expecting a dry, cool summer ..

How would a slightly AB forecast point to higher humidity and high nighttime lows?

Why couldn't it be warmer than normal maxes and low humidity with good diurnal ranges?

Nothing in a slightly AB forecast points to higher than normal nighttime lows.

I sure hope so, I'm sick of this Ginxy weather. The rest of this week is a step in the right direction.

huh? Maybe I should explain to you again as you obviously don't get it. I love summer, just not Florida. Maybe I can get in my pool, might throw in the ACs now as right on schedule as mid June is when summer starts. But the Euro isn't day after day of heat either so have to watch daily. Nice cool breeze with spots of sun now after a morning shower. Can feel the ocean air now. That big pond is cold.

Maybe I'll finally put in my a/c!

Still haven't put mine yet in either. May had a lot of dry warmth, so it was fine without it. (and May climo is cool enough that warm days can still be like 77F-80F)

If we pump up some of that mugginess from the OH Valley though, then I'll finally cave.

6 weeks ago somebody said open the pools and put in the AC, high temp in the house is 73 so far, pool is 66.

lol, I'm just bustin ballz, not trying to make it personal.  If you don't like Florida, then how can you like summer in SNE? Summer in SNE is HHH with storms, that's how most would picture it (I would think).  You seem to be a late spring/early fall type of guy.

Well certainly not where you live...the max average daily high in your backyard doesn't even reach 80F at any point in the summer. It is not uncommon to go entire summers without hitting 90F there.

my high temp last summer was 87, perfect. I am a beach summer lover, nothing better than body surfing while seeing the CU stuck inland all day while cool 80s over 60 on the shore. That's my SNE

Yeah it usually surprises me how low average highs are in New England in the summer.  People talk about high heat and humidity but when the average highs top out in the upper 70s and low 80s (sort of region wide), nothing about that screams a "hot" summer climate.

How one can describe New England as a hot summer climate when normals in July can be like 78/54...its puzzling.

It's only 85-89 here everyday, with slight to moderate humidity, not bad by any means.

Yep.

I mean I guess if you are moving from Nova Scotia or the UP of Michigan you might describe New England summers as hot and humid, but otherwise our summers are decidedly blunted for HHH weather compared to virtually the entire rest of the eastern half of the CONUS. That's what sticking out into the Atlantic does (and a little latitude to a lesser extent).

Doesn't mean we can't have some HHH episodes and some localized regions of SNE can perhaps claim to have relatively hot summers. The warmest parts of the ct valley can squeak over 85F for an average high at peak of summer.

Nope, wrong.  I hit 90 all the time on my thermometer. It gets hot in my south facing field of a yard.
