a 9 degree diurnal range with a low of 84 is insane. the dewpoint must have been near or above 80

This is something I recognized the last few years. Especially down here when the bay gets super warm in late July-August some years.

 

It is coming earlier than usual this year.

that happened twice that year...the only thing I can think of is there was smog/smokey conditions at that time...wasn't Central park a tent city around that time?...

The warm minimums coincided with the rapid expansion of the heat island from 1900-1910. There were quite

a few top three highest minimums  between 1900-1910. The NYC population tripled from 1890-1910. 

 

1890...1.5 million

1910...4.7 million
