Brian5671
small area of dying storms moving through SW CT-might actually get enough to wet the ground if it holds together another 20-30 min
nzucker
HPN picked up a quick 0.21" just from the initial thunderstorm...I think we had a little bit more on the western side of the County.
gravitylover
Must've been significant here, power is out and everything is soggy. I hate when the best option for dinner after a long day of work and a rotten commute home is beer and ice cream. I figure better to eat the ice cream than let it melt... Power has been intermittently on and off at my apartment complex after this morning's thunderstorm here. Walking into my apartment with no A/C most of the day was like walking into a sauna. My apartment was near the worst of it-apparently there was marble sized hail and decent wind around. The grounds are like a mushy swamp from all the rain-there was 1 to over 2" of rain under the storm. My office is a couple of miles away where I was largely side-swiped but still decent rain for a while, since the storm largely pulsed over one area on an old outflow boundary from last night. dmillz25
You might as well add 5-28 to this as well. Severe thunderstorm watch for NYC and parts of the Hudson valley and LI

Drz1111
I'm mildly intrigued. Winds are backed here in the city but temps still warm enough for surface based convection. There's some nice low-level shear to tap into if something big can form upstream.
jm1220
Shear values are good across New England down to N NJ, 40kt or better. Supercell values are increasing, as is CAPE especially in NJ. There could be some decent cells where enough heating can generate convection.

jm1220
You think one of those could get into NYC without it dying out?It will be close, CAPE drops off a cliff again in places tainted by marine layer winds. The best chances are definitely in NJ and north across the Hudson Valley and western New England.
