geddyweather
This was earlier, just north of Plains from Greg Johnson. Greensburg Part 2 anyone? Sent from my iPhone WOW. What a BEAST! My fear is that this gets close to Ensign KS (pop: 187) before the MCS chokes it off.

Disc
Been out most of the day, but just getting back and catching up. Most recent scan showing that Ensign might be in trouble.
cyclone77
The interaction between the incoming line could cause a brief ramp up in velocities before it's swallowed into the line. Up till now the velocities really haven't been too impressive despite the large tors we've seen in the pics.

geddyweather
Velocities maxed out again. Getting a radar hole as the circulation is just 3 miles from Ensign. This is bad...
Ian
I kept thinking Greensburg when it was growing initially. We saw two cones drop then they lifted and we went after it and saw it touch again. By the time we got out and had cameras out it rapidly grew to giant sized. Given the environment I'm not sure it was violent and it almost certainly won't get rated such but it was intense to watch even with limited lightning illumination. Of course we were a good bit further back than those guys. Greg is cool but they are nuts. They blew by us at like 100 mph on the way to it. Jonbo
Actually looks like it's cycling yet again I'm seeing that too. It's not giving up without a fight I guess. Edit: Warning issued for southern 2/3 of Dodge City.

Jonbo
It's a bit unnerving seeing how thin the tornado warning was edited into, compared to how thin it already was to begin with.

SluggerWx
One of the reports near Ensign says the tornado hit a wind turbine. That is interesting - can't remember that happening before (though I'm sure it has)
Jonbo
Maybe I'm thinking off-base but it seems like the storm is splitting itself off the line and trying to become a supercell again.
jojo762
This supercell literally ate up the long-lived MCS... Appears to be a supercell (which was previously part of the MCS) developing to the south of the main one near DDC, south of Montezuma... Amazing what good 0-3KM turning, backed SFC flow, 40kt H85 flow, and 50kts of EFF. Shear can do.

tornadotony
Maybe I'm thinking off-base but it seems like the storm is splitting itself off the line and trying to become a supercell again. It's a quasi-discrete supercell embedded in the MCS.

SluggerWx
With each turbine being a significant asset, you would think there are robust instruments on each. Anyone with knowledge of the industry know of that's the case? It would be interesting to see the measured wind speeds on the turbine relative to those measured by radar.
