I think this is downtown Austin.

yes it is.. TWC showed a view of that stadium from a tower cam earlier... Apparently one of the electrical poles close by had someone that was hugging it while the water was overtaking them, and they hugged onto it until fire fighters could get a boat into the water upstream on the road, and get to them. Amazing.

Kinda OT but basically all the 00Z High-Res (HRRR/ 12KM NAM/ 4KM NAM/ HRRR) guidance is doing a terrible job with all the convection across multiple areas... 1. Severe Arkansas MCS, 2. Weak/strong KS/NE convection, and 3. Linear MCS from NW LA to HOU and west of there. Off by a wide margin in both degree of coverage and location. Suprised by the lack of accuracy within 2 hours, doesn't happen very often that they're this off though.(HRRR isn't that bad though compared to the rest.)

I drive by that stadium all the time-it's on North Lamar Blvd and near the bottom of a hill, off Shoal Creek. That explains the torrent of water flowing by. There are lots of businesses and homes just past that stadium, damage must be very severe up there.

that's a shame Congress Ave is that inundated. hopefully 6th St got out of this storm ok, if not, it'll be really damaging to the local economy,.

I saw footage on the local news of 5th St submerged, which is the immediate downtown area. Lady Bird Lake (the Colorado River) also flooded. I'm sure when (if) I get back to work tomorrow I'll hear lots more from people.

More recently, Onion Creek has been a trouble spot for floods but today the worst rain fell on the west and north side of Austin, so downtown and the west side had the worst of the floods. The creeks flow down hills which cause the torrents, and obviously can be devastating when they overflow.
