A couple of reports of damaging winds across coastal central to Southern California today.

At the moment, a healthy-looking bowing segment is approaching the area just north of San Diego. A pair of discrete supercells formed out in front just offshore. Have already seen one report of a waterspout.

An MD was just issued. 5% watch probabilities. Mentioning a couple of damaging wind gusts and perhaps a tornado.

It looks like central California had a tornado yesterday. No official word on anything in Southern California yet.

EF-0 TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN NEAR THE HIGHWAY 152-HIGHWAY 156 INTERCHANGE ... APPROXIMATELY 7 MILES NORTH OF HOLLISTER. THERE WAS INTERMITTENT DAMAGE ALONG A 1 MILE PATH

Could see a few hail-producing storms tonight on either side of the Red River from northwest Texas into southern Oklahoma. HRRR continues the theme of moderate instability tonight, that the SPC was doubting from earlier NAM progs. Based on mesoanalysis and trends,  some pockets of >1000 J/kg CAPE could be realized this evening. Given very steep mid-level lapse rates/cold air aloft, hail is the main threat.

There is a severe thunderstorm nearly stationary over Custer State park in the South Dakota Black Hills right now. 3" hail was reported. Vehicles are said to be stuck in accumulating hail. Flash flooding may be ongoing.I don't know how to post the warnings. It is the Rapid city  SD weather office.

This storm has dropped an estimated 5.5" on the Black Hills mountaintops-- this is probably causing raging creeks and rivers, perhaps threatening a few rural areas and campgrounds. I hope there weren't any hikers caught in that. That's some major water and lightning.

This brings to mind the 1972 Rapid city flood. It started in the Hills near keystone.  There were 15'' of rain in 6 hours and the flood killed 239 people.  I don't think it is likely to happen again.

The MCC in Oklahoma has created a train wreck this morning (Monday). Still a chance things recover in Colorado; note 12 hours of sunlight to go as I type. Temps/Dews should be adequate by late afternoon. LLJ looks just-in-time JIT but tries late afternoon. With the main outflow boundary buried to the south Palmer Divide topography may have to work on its own. Outflow lifting back north may be better aligned with Raton Mesa topography late this afternoon. Despite JIT recovery, I think it is at least a local set-up in Colorado.

For tomorrow: SPC introduced an Enhanced risk for eastern Kansas, western Missouri, and parts of IA and NE. With such high CAPE and some possibility of very low LCLs in Kansas, as well as reasonable SRH and 35kt of shear, this might a signal for >5% tornado risk in some section of eastern Kansas. Eastern Oklahoma may need to have the slight risk also.

Edit: also 50-55kt winds at 300mb could help sustain supercells

Line coming out of foothills moving way too fast, not enough time for warming after initial stratus/crud in the Denver metro area. Might end up being a bust- any time/energy for another round later?

Figures, I actually got buckets over the roses, the cars in the garage and the glass patio table under the roof before I left this AM.

Some areas are probably developing thunder, from what used to be rain showers just a short time ago. Still nothing super organized.
