DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 500 PM EDT (2100 UTC), the center of Tropical Depression Ana was
located near latitude 34.4 North, longitude 78.6 West.  The
depression is moving toward the north-northeast near 5 mph (7 km/h)
and a turn toward the northeast with a gradual increase in forward
speed is expected over the next 48 hours.  On the forecast track,
the center will move over eastern North Carolina overnight and into
southeastern Virginia on Monday.

Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph (55 km/h) with higher gusts.
Some weakening is likely during the next day or so.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 1007 mb (29.74 inches).

 

This is the last public advisory issued by the National Hurricane
Center on this system.  Future information on this system can be
found in Public Advisories issued by the Weather Prediction Center
beginning at 11 PM EDT under AWIPS header TCPAT1 AND WMO header
WTNT31 KWNH.

nasty hooked out storm with a bigtime couplet headed right for Emerald Isle, still 20 miles offshore but it looks to be producing a tornado.....might get absorbed before it gets to shore though

Just saw that on channel 12's FB page. Nasty looking cell.

yep just came to post about that cell.  Looks to be headed toward Pikeville if it keeps shape, but these are likely to be short lived.

 

If they don't go away soon the Lenior one will get into Kinston and that's a big target.....I cant imagine they are much more then EF0-1 though

According to the data from the NDBC site, the Oak Island station recorded a max 1 minute sustained wind of 48 mph with a peak gust of 60 mph, around 417 am EDT on the 10th.

Fortunately, I was documenting the storm in this same area. My intercept locations consisted of Caswell Beach, Oak Island, and Southport, NC.
