well i think the point is that most people would prefer 85-90 over temps in the 50s and rain, well at least i do.

Can add my name to the people that would prefer 50's and rain over 85-90. Much better for my garden too. And last night was really nice weather for stargazing- would much rather be standing out in lower 50's at night than a muggy 75 with bugs sticking to me everywhere. I just have little use for really hot weather. If I had my way, every day from Jan. 7 to Thanksgiving week would have highs in the upper 60's with dewpoints in the upper 30's, with a low of 50 every night.

50s and rain would eventually lead to some pretty bad results for a standard summer garden.  Plant growth would come to a halt, fungus could easily grow, and rot would set in on many fruits and vegetables if any sort of blemish were to show on them.  It would be fine for things like spinach, peas, etc.

Lol at all the people preferring 50s and rain over beautiful sunny 85-90 weather. We're not talking about 105 here. I enjoy an occasional rainy day but to say you prefer it is hard to fathom. The Pacific Northwest is calling.

That's all true, but overall my garden and grass is happier after one day like today than one day of sunny and 90 it seems. Even my pumpkins and tomatoes seem to do bad when its really hot, which isn't supposed to be how it works, but its what I've observed.

Edit to add: were getting a lot of rain again, 0.60" so far.

Oh...of course.  A garden will certainly appreciate a day like today interspersed with warmth and sun.  And aside from peppers and okra, not much likes neverending scorching heat!

Not sure how much I've gotten at home so far, but the radar looks good.  Nice to get some needed rain after missing out on the storms the other day.

0.60" in the rain gauge so far. Nice event here...current  temp is 49. Dropped from 54 this morning. Forecast high for this afternoon was 60. Don't often see temp busts on the cold side like that in late May, when the forecast high was already well below the avg high.

NWS calling for a high of only 50 here. Break out the sweaters and light jackets. A day of this is actually refreshing imo.

Yep, it's a bit cooler than I prefer but nice to get a break from the heat and humidity.

I'll take this weather over 90+ and humid... that will be here soon enough anyway.

85-90 and sunny is great as long as all your ACs are in full working order and you aren't outside for any lengthy period of time.

Nope, found my spot-Summit Co Colorado will end up being home within a few years.

Yep, today blows. I don't know anyone outside this forum who'd prefer low 50s and rain over mid 80s and sunny.

Hmmm.....maybe we a bit different here, but it is usually the other way around with folks I know.

VERY true. You can always put an article of clothing on if you feel a chill, sooner or later you run out of options going the other way in the heat!

I got a PILE of outside stuff done today, even in the light rain/drizzle earlier.

How does one torch their house? Would that be like having the windows closed with the oven on 450f @ 2pm on July 12th?

Sounds like my house growing up. I lived in a brick twin house in Philly without A/C. Much to my father's dismay my mom would have the stove going with a chicken or something in it in the middle of suemmer.

Yep.....90+ and high humidity only works poolside or ocean side with beverage of choice in hand.

It's not as if we live in some godforsaken part of the world that doesn't have electricity or proper plumbing, and I have a feeling that no one on this board has an issue with working AC.  We also generally have access to cold beverages, and a pool and/or beach isn't much of a drive away (if any at all).

I'm not going to label or judge anyone based off their weather preferences; to each their own..  However, if hot weather is so great then I'd think they'd keep their living spaces at those same conditions, yet I'd wager that they don't.

yea but if the choice is between 85-90 and 50s with rain, i'm going 85-90.  there's just more you can do outside in that weather.

ideally, i would take 78-82, partly cloudy, light breeze, a little humidity.

yea but with those temps you can get out early in the day and do your outdoor activities and also sneak some in the evening.  when it's in the 50s with rain, forget about that.

there's no question i would take 90 and sun over 50s and rain.  again, i'm not saying i love it when it's 90 degrees.  i prefer 80, but at least i can enjoy outdoors for part of the day when it's that warm.

My car AC wasn't working the other week.... when that happens, it's not fun to drive when it's sunny and 80+. Also, last year my room AC broke down and the room temp rose above 90.

My point isn't to complain.... I like moderately hot weather from time to time, but it's easy to celebrate heat and humidity when you can easily be sheltered from it.
