Man the storm that rolled through at 2am sounded like it had some brief hail...that was deafening when it poured down on the roof. Some absolutely ridiculous lightning strikes too. I actually got up twice to see if anything in the yard got hit. It was house shaking and the kind of lightning/thunder couplet that makes anyone sort of duck for cover.

This is from a former co-worker , Boris Konon. From Kittery looking at the York county beast. You don't see structure like this in New England.

Heard on radio this morning that one York County location reported hail to 2.5"

Closest shot to my home came while I was outside (probably unwisely) doing my personal obs at 9 PM before the +RA arrived - several near-instantaneous flickers with a machinegun-like crash less than a second after the initial light.  Something in our woodlot took a hit, may be worth a search walk some dry Saturday.

Whole bunch of rain here yesterday, esp last night.  St. J had about 3.2 inches if my math is right.  Danville had a big storm roll in around 6 last night.  There was part of a big tree down in Danville on the Peacham Road.

Only 1.31" here yesterday... but wow at some of the flash flooding photos coming out of Washington County and points east towards St. Johnsbury where some CoCoRAHS stations are showing up to 3" of rainfall.

Barre, VT was under water yesterday evening...

Holy crap. I wondered if there was going to be some issues at home. Any other flossing areas?

Saving this radar snap for the archive.  Probably won't get a day like yesterday again for a while.

I need to find a way to extract my little funnel cloud clip from the 2.5gb main video.

attachicon.gifradar.jpg

You'd have to upload the full video first, then you could use:

https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/183851?hl=en

Really simple and free and sure to work.  You could get some local video editing software, but they can be cumbersome especially if you are just using for the first time.

Had 2.07" from two TS.  The one last evening at 8:30-9:45 had 20-30 strikes/minute with many close shots.  oddly that frequent lightning was flashing for nearly 30 minutes before any serious RA arrived.  Lost power at 9:45 after a strike near where our gravel road meets the pavement, 2,000' away, and anticipated a long outage if just our 3-customer road was affected.  However, lights came on an hour later.  Storm #2 at 4-5 AM was fairly strong, but nowhere near like the 1st one.  Neighbor lost a medium-size basswood only 100 yards from our place, but it was full of defect and I think it fell from wind rather than lightning.

Wow, Not as impressive here with 0.75" in three showers

Looking at cocorahs, this is the first time since I joined them in 2009 that my location was tops for Maine in precip (or at least the first time I noticed), and only Parsonsfield was particularly close.  The Route 2 svr shield cracked, at least this time.  (A few NH stations and many more in VT had considerably more than I did, and there is nothing in my neighborhood like those Barre pics that were posted.)

Three storms yesterday gave me a total of 1.10".  eek you must have got socked!!  What was your total??   Sorry you missed out Brian, I would have been pulling out my hair if I got .10"  with just so much activity all around!

At 330pm today can clearly see the anvil over the south shores of New England, what's that about 150 miles south of me?

CON only got a T so it could've been worse.

Only .58".....Most of the rain came from the first storm which developed right over me and then moved over the lake.
