heavy_wx
My new VIL color table uses the colors from the AWIPS BR color table. red is over 115 kg/m2 here. Big time hail You can see a nice polarimetric three-body hail signature on the 0.8 deg scan from KDYX SE of Dublin, TX.
jhamps10
it is weird to be hearing thunder from the storm down in Comanche and Erath counties all the way in SW Fort Worth...
Chinook
Thunder usually doesn't travel too far before it get absorbed/refracted. Are you getting lightning inside the anvil, going many miles out towards Fort Worth?
cstrunk
Seems like the storm is shrinking now.

jhamps10
yep. and all the way to the 3.5 scan, which is 19+kft agl ps: NWS-DFW needs to locally extend the tornado watch to Bosque, Summervell, and Hood Counties ASAP ahead of this storm. Not sure if SPC issued a new one or FWD locally extended the watch, but watch out until 11 for dfw South and west down to Waco

Roy
Storms out west of this cell definitely aren't taking up for it as tornado producers. Will see how that changes over time as the main disturbance moves closer.
geddyweather
It's lost its tornado warning, but still has a beautiful structure and the velocities appear to be tightening up again on radar.
Eskimo Joe
If you look at the 0.5 degree Base Velocity on the Dallas / Fort Worth radar, there appears to be a low level wind shift that is moving south. It's most evident just to the southwest side of the city and might force the cell below the metroplex.
Sydney Claridge
I wonder if the storms forming around Breckenridge could become a threat for the DFW Metroplex later on?
rolltide_130
I wonder if the storms forming around Breckenridge could become a threat for the DFW Metroplex later on? Possibly. It may run into inflow problems with those two massive supercells down to the south though.
andyhb
That supercell SW of Houston is in an area of enhanced SRH near the seabreeze boundary and mid 70s surface dewpoints. Strong effective shear ~70 kts too.
Chinook
Every time Breckenridge gets mentioned in a weather discussion about Texas, I think of a little ski town surrounded by the Front Range, Mosquito-Tenmile Range and Gore Range.
