I am curious as to what type of temperatures and humidity levels people prefer in the summer. I got this idea from the New England thread, and I thought it would be interesting to have the same poll options and see if people in the Southeast have different summer preferences than those in New England.

Yesterday it was 83 at the driving range and I was sweating profusely with the dew point at 66...

So I voted 80-89, 60-69 low, DP don't care as long as it's on the low end.

anything below 60 for a low and it's too cold to cruise with the windows and sunroof open at night.

I sweat very easily. Therefore, I always prefer dewpoints down into the 40's for more comfy walks. Even if temp.'s are in the low to mid 80's, dewpoints in the 40's can make for limited sweating. Another key is to have a decent breeze. Since 40's dewpoints in summer are quite uncommon in much of the SE, I'd take many days of 50's and be satisfied.

Of course, a trip out west to the mountains is a nice way to avoid the humid nonsense altogether. There, dewpoints in the 40's and often lower when it isn't raining is a given just about every day.

Depends on what I'm doing in the yard. Mowing? Weeding? actual labor? or chilling with a beer. I, too, sweat easily so prefer low humidity as well... temps in the mid-upper 80's is about my comfort level. I also think about..."If that dang A/C doesn't shut off soon it's really gonna jack up the electric bill". ;) It was actually comfortable today on an asphalt parking lot because there was a pretty good breeze going on,, but got back home, same conditions, except the acres of pine trees kind of kills the breeze factor.

I wanna know who voted for dewpoints of 75 or higher.

For me, ideal summer temps would be highs around 85 and low around 65 with dewpoints in the 50s or low 60s.

Good ol' Metalman:

100 degrees. 80s for lows and 81 degree dewpoints. Got to get used to it here. I swear this area has its own microclimate.

You live in the mountains of Virginia. How hot and humid could it possibly be ? Try living in the deep south.

Currently 93/76 with a heat index of 105. Can't broad brush this area just because it's north and in the mountains.

ETA: I live in the Roanoke Valley and only at about 1000ft in elevation.
