There seems to be a bit of a disconnect going on at the moment; Sandra has deviated to the right (more in line with the upper flow) and has actually intensified a bit over the last few hours despite predictions of its imminent demise.  No doubt it'll weaken, but it may make it to the coast as a stronger storm than anticipated.

It does look fairly healthy this evening. Maybe staying a major 'cane through much of the night.

One of the worst model performances of the season...the Euro has been awful. It has kept stacked, which allowed to be steered by the upper level flow into an area in which shear, although high is not as destructive as further north, and SSTs are higher, which has allowed to keep better stacked...rinse and repeat.

Lol, yeah. The Euro bombed on this. It seemed like it never grasped this system-- never even initialized it very well.

 

Btw, Sandra may come in as a hurricane if it doesn't decouple.
