AirNelson39
I also find it pretty crazy that Brad has us in the 8-11" range while WBTV has us in the 1-3" range....that's some pretty incredible differences in a forecast. WNC_Fort
Flooding. Crooked Creek is out of its bank up and down the Bat Cave area. A chunk of our hayfield is in the creek as well after a landslide sometime during the night.
SnoJoe
Good to see you guys getting some rain. We must be a little too west to get the goods. I've got a 10 day total of 3.14". Can't complain though considering how dry it was before. We're getting some moderate rain now but the back edge is approaching fast. Enjoy ! SnoJoe
And how did the track of this hurricane change by more than 600 miles in a little over 48 hours? Are we still that bad at predicting these things ?

Met1985
Also we have had moderate to heavy rainfall all day still. They are expecting parts of the Pigeon river to flood tomorrow I believe. Also a confirmed small landslide in Canton blocking some roads.

SnoJoe
My temp has risen 6 degrees in the past hour. Don't really know what that means but i'm great at obs !
WNC_Fort
Ended up with about 5.5 inches since Sept. 30. Kinda "disappointing" numbers after seeing what the models put up and hearing what some forecasters put out this week. However, that is nearly 17 inches of rain in a two week span so i'm not complaining.

Looks like we are mostly done with this event hopefully. We really need to dry out. Poor Charleston and the SC coast are just getting killed. MikeGold
Ray's Winter forecast for the mountains: http://raysweather.com/public/FearlessForecast.pdf One thing I would like to point out that in such a Winter pattern that is expected; the location of heavy snow in many cases is not going to be where it is normally. Your standard NW wind snow events probably won't be a big deal as arctic air masses from the Great Lakes will likely be limited and cold air may be more Westerly with the large scale zonal flow that is expected shifting the favored areas around a bit. Rather, much more of the snow will be generated from storms from the Gulf and in many cases elevation will really come into play. It appears that the upcoming scenario is one that favors the Balsams for a change with a 100 inches a real possibility. SW and W wind orographics can really pile up the snow in the higher elevations there as have happen in previous years but not recently. Should be fun Winter for sure.
