With the shear intensity and weight of that polar dome pressing/nosing/damming/cadding whatever the f ageostrophic wall we want to call it, I have a hard time believing the NAM's decision to go N with that lift axis like that has much validity. Looks a tad too far over the top of the airmass before initiating moist adiabatic process there.

I can see going lighter, sure, but not farther N...

I think that's the risk. Lighter precip that probably argues for glaze, vs deep layer lift through 700mb to help force snow. You'll have plenty of lift near 850, but I would like to see it deeper than that.

The s/w for tomorrow is currently triggering convection over SE MN. I mentioned earlier that it could be messing around with the models in that the actual synoptics to create widespread stratiform precip might have a hard time being modeled properly. Loop the NAM and follows that precip currently out there. Perhaps it's right, but it wouldn't be the first time we see modeling errors from that.

Meh. seasons in seasons, just a bit colder.  Cold miserable rain in April instead of the usual cool April rain.

THERE IS A LOW PROBABILITY OF MIXED RAIN AND SLEET LATE TONIGHT
AND EARLY WEDNESDAY.

THERE IS A LOW PROBABILITY THAT RAIN MAY MIX WITH SLEET OR
FREEZING RAIN WEDNESDAY EVENING INTO WEDNESDAY NIGHT. HIGHEST
RISK FOR THIS IS ACROSS THE EAST SLOPES OF THE BERKSHIRES AND THE
CENTRAL HILLS.

Southern VT is looking good for at least a few inches, at least in the higher elevations. I'll be headed to Stratton tomorrow until Friday, hopefully most of the precip remains frozen and I'm not skiing in the rain...latest indications is that it will. I've never skied in sleet or freezing rain either so that should be interesting if that happens.

sleet is pretty fun after it falls, freezing rain is not bad but absolutely blows on the lifts

Nope... I'm not going to pretend to know much, but it seems a bit fickle.

These are the types of events that easily flop in the wrong direction

Or just flops period, Unless this rips with heavy rates over an area or falls at night, Its going to be tough to accumulate outside of grassy surfaces, Happened up here this past weekend, Someone may get lucky, But i would want some elevation in this setup
