KChuck
Total 2014-15 snowfall amounts with normals and departures for NWS eastern region Decided to start my first topic rather than put this in banter. I believe that this will make a good conversation thread by itself!
superjames1992
I always thought Asheville averaged more seasonal snowfall than that.I'm sure Pack is happy about another banner year for the Mid-Atlantic.I find it peculiar that Danville, VA averages less than Raleigh and close to half of Greensboro, though. No snow for you
That is surprising that GSP averages more snow than clt.
isohume
Cool, an above avg year. Now the snow crows will have nothing to complain about. Oh wait...

However, I rechecked and now realize the 9.2" through 3/21 seems about right for Asheville. Through April, it is ~10" I think.
GaWx
That is surprising that GSP averages more snow than clt. Maybe it is related somewhat to GSP being 300 feet higher than CLT.
Iceagewhereartthou
What's sobering is how poorly SC and Eastern NC fared. Virtually the entire east coast to our North was above average, and here, we had to string together 3 paltry events, one week in Feb, to see anything at all. Aaaarrrrgggghhhh!!!! Snowless in Carrollton
Is there a similar map for the southern region ? I'm assuming that's the region Atlanta is in since I don't see Atlanta on the list.

KChuck
Found link in above twitter site that gives totals as of February 22nd which verifies how poorly everyone was doing up till that time. Feb link is https://mobile.twitter.com/NWSEastern/status/569637934674137088/photo/1. I'd paste pic but am responding via my cell phone.
KChuck
Interesting seasonal snow accumulation map at http://www.nohrsc.noaa.gov/snowfall/data/201504/snfl_2014093012_to_2015040312.png shows central NC getting 24-36" of snow for period between sept 30 2014 and today. Hmmm...

However, I rechecked and now realize the 9.2" through 3/21 seems about right for Asheville. Through April, it is ~10" I think. Hmm, I always assumed our average was 14-16" here but I guess that was before snow drought...
franklin NCwx
Hmm, I always assumed our average was 14-16" here but I guess that was before snow drought...it is if you count oct, nov, and Dec.
GaWx
it is if you count oct, nov, and Dec. Franklin, I still get only ~10" for Asheville including all of Oct-Apr by looking at normals for the official station.
mackerel_sky
Maybe it is related somewhat to GSP being 300 feet higher than CLT.GSP is further south than CLT, cold air is always more available to CLT than GSP , so I am very surprised by this statistic . If we have mixing issues or ice, CLT can and does have snow !
