IsentropicLift
We may finally see some heavier rains early next week as the STJ becomes active. The last time NYC saw .75 or greater was back on March 14th. gfsNA_250_spd_132.gif From your lips to God's ears. Last nights GGEM continued to show heavy rain on Monday night. LongBeachSurfFreak
Pretty windy here this morning. However there is a nice mild feel to the air as compared to days with an onshore flow. As I discussed earlier in the month onshore flow here is actually better then off for giving some chill. As we move into May it becomes increasingly difficult for an offshore flow to produce anything but 60s plus with sunny sky's

Been pretty dry of late, I'll believe it when I see it and won't be surprised if models back off as we get closer.
doncat
Anyone in nyc (other than the park/lga) get to 70 yet Staten Island , bklyn, queens etc? Just curious. Made it here on Monday.

We could really use the rain so I hope that this isn't another opportunity that fizzles out the closer we get.

bluewave
This fri/sat fizzled as well...though that was never a sure thing. Maybe getting the northern and southern streams to phase with a neg tilt trough will give us a better shot at something finally above .75 for the area. dmillz25
Yeah, JFK hit 70 also. If we beat guidance by a few degrees like today some spots may approach 73-75 on Saturday. Im at 73 now it feels great
bluewave
Im at 73 now it feels great Looks like the pattern will shift cooler again next week for possibly the remainder of the month with all the blocking the models are showing and the trough nearby. So we could be seeing the warmest readings of April coming up on Saturday.

So we could be seeing the warmest readings of April coming up on Saturday. that's assuming it actually shows up. We've had one barely -NAO since January, forecasts for it to fall or drop have often not happened or the drop is muted. But, since it's late April and we finally don't want it, it will verify! SnoSki14
Surprised NYC hit it today albeit likely very briefly but it was going to hit it solidly on Saturday. It looks likely that the warmest temp this month for the city will come this Saturday. We shall see if it stays under the 75 max of the 2000s for the month. LOL The record breaking positive streak from 1//1/15 through today with only 1 -NAO day had to end some time. But the timing is not what the spring lovers wanted to see here going into late April with a trough taking up residence over the NE in the ensemble means. Would be a nice bonus if some higher elevation spots in the interior NE see some flakes.
