backedgeapproaching Posted April 22, 2015 Share Posted April 22, 2015 They are def more dependent on sun vs temps as far as opening I think its mostly soil temps for them to bloom, so the more sunny the spot- the soil will warm quicker. The shadier spots, the soil is cooler and bloom time will be delayed. Although I guess sun on the actual plant would matter too, not sure. That's why you try to put down your dimension when they bloom, because soil temps are near 55* and that's the magic temp for crabgrass to START germinating.
