winterwarlock
Finally some good news to look forward to. How accurate have they been of late?. Would be nice to get some heat after last years cool summer.

Isotherm
It's a probability based guidance, not an outlook/forecast. I wouldn't hang my hat on it personally. Their guidance for this past winter was pretty far off, and they tend to bias their long-term guidance to the warm side overall.

SnoSki14
Their outlooks are completely useless in my opinion. They'll always favor warmth because they think the planet is on fire.

I started to take more a look and so far I agree on at least avg but some analgo support for the plus side. Looking wetter than normal as well. RU848789
Non-deterministic analog-based "forecasts" are guesswork, at best. I'm hoping for snow to continue through the summer, lol...
marsplex
I hope we see a really active summer with some severe. It certainly beats hot and dry. No, I want hot and dry. Sick of the storms and super storms, people getting hurt, killed, losing homes, its too much. Need some kind of rest from it all.
Isotherm
No, I want hot and dry. Sick of the storms and super storms, people getting hurt, killed, losing homes, its too much. Need some kind of rest from it all. People are responsible for exponentially more deaths and greater harm to the human race than mother nature. It seems we cycle through this argument every year. I'd wager to say >99.5% of our thunderstorms do not hurt or kill anymore. Hurricane Sandy is the only recent event that fits your description above. Again, rooting for active weather does not translate into folks rooting for damage. Needless to say, there are some weather enthusiasts out there who probably wouldn't mind some shingles blown off the roof just to experience a weak tornado. I don't think anyone's rooting for a Cat 3 hurricane direct hit or F3 tornado, but we rarely if ever get that. Sounds to me like you're very suited for a Southwest US type climate, where weather is generally boring most of the year.

Rittenhouse
Not sure why anyone would want a hot summer. 90 degree days in the city are brutal, especially when it doesn't get below 80 at night. winterwarlock
Summer rocks...hot hazy nights in the summer can be magical...its what you make of it As if cold and snow stuck inside the house is so desirable
SomeWeatherGeek
I agree summers in the city are the worst. Nothing worse than humid nights that you need to take 3 showers in one day. I hate it! Winters are at least beneficial cause we get snow and it's calm and you can sleep like a baby. I never sleep good during the summer. Even with the ac on blast it's not the nicest. Spring and especially fall are way better than summer itself. Winter is of course my favorite. Nothing like a full blown blizzard on a weekend! Juliancolton
Vague, ambiguous...and written as a derogation, I believe. There's no good reason why snow or moderate should confine you to your house. I mean, sure—on the day of a major snowfall, it's wise to avoid travel and stay close to home. Once the storm clears and the sun is out, though, there are myriad ways to stay active and enjoy the sights. If you'd rather spend your winter shuffling from house to work and back again, donning horse blinkers to keep from accidentally looking at the evil frozen water, it's your call. It's definitely not the only option, however.

My quarrel would likely be with your assertion that embracing the cold and enjoying outdoor activity during the winter constitutes the norm; and any deviation from that line of thinking is both abnormal and brands the offending party a "loser". Everyone has their likes & dislikes; and everyone has their idiosyncrasies. We need not embrace things we do not care for; but we still should not heap scorn upon those who do not necessarily comport with our way of thinking. Winter doesn't hold a candle to summer as far as outdoor activities go, and I think most normal people would agree.
pazzo83
I like winter outdoor activities, but they often require a rather significant commitment of time and money, which not everyone has. Unless you live down the road from a resort, most people can't just up and go skiing for example. In summer, you can just... go outside. Summer and winter aren't even in the same ballpark when it comes to outdoor activities.
