Hmmm, seems a bit too low. But, it is LAF after all.

Local CoCoRaHS observer rainfall totals:

Lafayette 2.2 S: 0.83"

Lafayette 2.2 NE: 0.76"

West Lafayette 2.8 NE: 0.81"

West Lafayette 5.1 WSW: 1.46"

Radar estimated precip shows less with westward extent so the LAF total may not be really off.  The 5.1 WSW total looks off though.

I know you're on the Dust Bowl II train, but LAF was too low with this one. The Otterbein observer was at 0.80"...not to mention the observers in the counties to our west (Fountain and Warren) had similar totals.

And IMO, LAF has been reading too low for some time. Well, unless everyone else is over-measuring rainfall/precipitation.

Then it begs the question, why would LAF be underreporting precip amounts?  I get it when it snows...

lol, I don't think it's a conspiracy or something. But, most of it probably has to do with winter precipitation I guess...or maybe it's just a local minimum spot. :arrowhead:

Here's the YTD total precipitation numbers for the local observers/sites:

LAF: 4.08"

Lafayette 2.2 S: 8.22"

West Lafayette 5.1 WSW: 8.88"

Lafayette 2.2 NE: 7.16"

West Lafayette 2.8 NE: 7.41"

Lafayette 8 S: 7.28"

West Lafayette 6 NW: 6.71"

Still pretty low even after almost all the snow had fallen.

I was going to ask him the same thing, then thought I could do it myself but just haven't gotten around to it.  I was thinking it could be a nipher-like problem, but it's low on plain rainfall also.

Overcast skies here still. Today could have passed for a mid November day easily. 0.63" of rain total.

Nothing around here has leaves on it yet. Some very small leaves starting on the shrubs, but with the up and down temperatures they haven't progressed very far. Daffodils managed just last week to bloom.
