THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN THE QUAD CITIES HAS ISSUED A  

 

* TORNADO WARNING FOR...  

WARREN COUNTY IN WEST CENTRAL ILLINOIS...  

 

* UNTIL 745 PM CDT  

 

* AT 705 PM CDT...A TORNADO PRODUCING STORM WAS LOCATED OVER  

MONMOUTH...MOVING EAST AT 30 MPH.  

 

HAZARD...DAMAGING TORNADO.  

 

SOURCE...RADAR CONFIRMED TORNADO AND LAW ENFORCEMENT REPORTED.  

 

IMPACT...FLYING DEBRIS WILL BE DANGEROUS TO THOSE CAUGHT WITHOUT  

SHELTER. MOBILE HOMES WILL BE DAMAGED OR DESTROYED.  

DAMAGE TO ROOFS...WINDOWS AND VEHICLES WILL OCCUR. TREE  

DAMAGE IS LIKELY.  

 

* THIS TORNADIC THUNDERSTORM WILL REMAIN OVER MAINLY RURAL AREAS OF  

NORTHERN WARREN COUNTY...INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...  

COLDBROOK...GERLAW...CAMERON...MONMOUTH MUNICIPAL AIRPORT AND  

ORMONDE.

AT 709 PM CDT...A CONFIRMED LARGE AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TORNADO WAS  

LOCATED OVER MONMOUTH...MOVING EAST AT 20 MPH.  

 

THIS IS A PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION.  

 

HAZARD...DAMAGING TORNADO.  

 

SOURCE...RADAR CONFIRMED TORNADO.  

 

IMPACT...YOU ARE IN A LIFE THREATENING SITUATION. FLYING DEBRIS MAY  

BE DEADLY TO THOSE CAUGHT WITHOUT SHELTER. MOBILE HOMES  

WILL BE DESTROYED. CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE TO  

HOMES...BUSINESSES AND VEHICLES IS LIKELY AND COMPLETE  

DESTRUCTION IS POSSIBLE.

Someone on Twitter said there's unconfirmed reports (per the radio) of major damage. Based on the debris signature, I believe that.

 

Radio is reporting major damage to homes. Unable to confirm this attm. Storm appears to be cycling. #ilwx @NWSQuadCities

I'll never understand severe weather 2% Tor probs and we have this.

The 2% TOR prob didnt make too much sense to begin with, given the relatively impressive environment in place... as Andy showed on the last page.
