Natester
Surprise minor ice storm here! Took a few photos of the ice a little while ago. Very little snow accumulation, though. Of course, I was asleep when the freezing rain fell.
Thundersnow12
Been ripping +SN here for awhile. Biggest flakes were by far at onset with the first batch around 4:30am or so. Big cotton balls Respectable now but not like they were earlier

dmc76
gonna end up with 4"+ welcome back to slushy mud hell Good thing about late March snow. It's usually melts pretty fast. Around Chicago most of it should be gone by this evening.
hawkeye_wx
As Natester said above, Cedar Rapids got all freezing rain with just a few snow grains/pellets at the end. There is a nice glaze on everything. I slept through it all so I don't know if we got any thunder. The snow totals from far northeast Iowa into southern Wisconsin (10-15") are very impressive. I'm not really surprised a narrow area really got dumped on, though. Given the late season extreme temp gradient to drive the snow, I thought the nws and local mets were low-balling it with early forecasts and the nws was certainly late to the party with the issuing of advisories and upgrade to warning. SchaumburgStormer
Looks like 2-3" imby. Unfortunately due to my broken back, I am unable to get an accurate measurement. Snow is very grainy and blowing around a bit.

Hoosier
Some 13-15" amounts being reported out of southwest WI. Wow. Not surprising to see an overperformer in some areas given the type of setup (strong frontogenesis with some instability aloft)

Hoosier
I'm sitting at South Street having lunch, and it's begun precipitating. Not snow though... Forecast soundings have been indicating a slight warm layer aloft around this time that quickly goes away. I'm more interested in what happens when the stuff in IL moves in.
