GaWx
The bugs and pollen are already in full swing in Savannah, a great time of year. In all seriousness, I say enjoy the weather because it is the only weather we've got.

GaWx
I guess it won't be long before these guys show up... I just found not 1, not 2, but 8 wasp nests around my SAV house the last few days, with 6 being inside/on the wheeled trash bins! I killed all the wasps that were on the nests with wasp spray (the kind that shoots out far for safety) and then got rid of the nests, themselves. Those bad boys are gone for now with no stings. However, they'll be back though I'll be ready. They love to build nests in the plastic cubby holes on one side of the bins near the top when the bins are not moved for several weeks. Has anyone else ever had this problem? So, I decided to stuff plastic grocery bags up them over a year ago and that has since totally prevented them from building nests in those holes. The bags never fall out and they can't be seen. However, the problem with one of the bins is that it doesn't close tight enough to prevent them from coming inside that bin and building nests. So, Tony has his moles and I have my wasps. I really love spring!

Cold Rain
Why? It is my second fav behind winter Because I like Winter (snow), Fall (almost Winter (snow)), Summer (almost Fall (almost Winter (snow))), Spring (almost Summer (almost Fall (almost Winter (snow)))). Also, I have to start mowing again, Bradford Pear trees stink, pollen is everywhere, and Bradford Pear trees stink.
superjames1992
Why? It is my second fav behind winter Spring is a disaster and the worst. It has few redeeming qualities. It just means pollen misery and the eventual onset of another God awful season (summer).

It snowed after this date in each of the past two years here, so I disagree that it's "over". It probably is, but it doesn't have to be.

mackerel_sky
What a lovely spring day! 53 and cloudy. And man do those Bradford's smell good!Don't worry, once the clouds break, you will skyrocket to 70! Enjoy those Bradford's !! I have one in front of the house, it's about 20 years old , I did not plant it, and I won't cut it down, but I am waitng for an epic ice storm or thunderstorm , to take it out , but no luck so far! So many better options for trees! Leyland Cypress , are the next big problem, and they are dropping like flies around here! Monoculture, is a very bad thing! When one dies , they all go!! Leylands have a very hard time around here. I have a tulip magnolia that is in full bloom now and a flowering cherry that is about to pop.

GaWx
Shouldn't this thread be pinned, now that it's officially spring? You have a good point. However, it may be that the mods know it is tough to move from winter to spring. So, perhaps having an adjustment period with the spring thread unpinned for the time being is the best way to handle the difficult transition. nomanslandva
I know it will likely trend the wrong way but day 6 is interesting on the Euro and GFS. Most of these recent cold snaps have not really held but this one is inside the point where most of them have warmed. Free Euro clown has snow in N NC Sat as well as S VA. yotaman
Well our local forecast has officially put snow in the forecast for Saturday night albeit they added showers or flurries depending on which one you read. Could be an interesting night.

GaWx
Because I like Winter (snow), Fall (almost Winter (snow)), Summer (almost Fall (almost Winter (snow))), Spring (almost Summer (almost Fall (almost Winter (snow)))). Also, I have to start mowing again, Bradford Pear trees stink, pollen is everywhere, and Bradford Pear trees stink. CR, This is fascinating to hear since in all of my years I had never known that Bradford pear tree blooms literally stink! I had never read it or been told that. When I was at my dad's place today, I asked what kind of trees they had in their front yard. I was told Bradfords. He has at least four of them in the front yard, alone, with all of them in bloom. I was curious about what you said and smelled the full blooms up close. I detected no smell! However, it was pretty windy. So, I'm wondering if the wind was keeping me from detecting the smell? Or could it be some of them really don't smell? Or could they have been mistaken about them being Bradfords? They sort of had that Bradford look I thought. But maybe they're lookalikes?
