I can't even imagine the banter on here if this board was around in May 77. ;)

I would rather deal with snow in October than in May.  That would be funny reading the banter.  Some people probably would say summer canceled.

Anyways, I see snow falling off the trees now.  Its fun to watch.

Steady light snow in Port Jefferson at present; had 6.6 inches overnight...might be able to tack on a drop more.

Added a 1/2 inch this morning; total is 7.1"

The Manhattan Heat Island was really obvious last night. About 8 pm, cars parked around 8th in Midtown still had less than an inch of snow on them. But when I walked over to 11th toward the river, cars there had like 3 inches on them. Just in span of three blocks, snowfall was dramatically higher away from center of the Island.

Nice-with the low measurements at Central Park this winter, they should be over 50", closer with LGA. I can't remember once LGA being the high NYC station.

1993-94 they were just short of 60".  And they must have been during the 1980's a few times because their mean was higher than JFK's and Central Park's.  I'll retrieve that in a minute.

Here they are:

Westbury: 25.44"

Brookhaven Lab / Upton OKX: 25.41"

LaGuardia Airport: 21.66"

Did anyone notice the good ratios with Friday's spring snowstorm? Seemed to range from 12:1 to almost 20:1. Must be the sun angle.

Could aggregation in the warm lower levels have had that much of an influence on density? There were some dendrites, but they were mostly tiny and clumped together, ultimately yielding some of the best ratios of the winter imby.
