Based on what? Just want to know your reasoning.

The short range models seem to linger the snow for an extended period...RAP in particular...and the RAP is very good in these situations...and it tends to run a little dry anyway.

It will eventually slacken...but there are indications it will linger out here...light snow for 6 to 8 more hours...even at 1/4 inch to a 1/3 of an inch per hour that can tack on 2 or 3 extra inches.

still heavy snow here as it seems a nice band has formed from hartford ct all the way down to the bronx.im now at 5 inches here and still counting. 6 still on the table.4-6 was a great call for us.some would say that ratios were much better in the bronx then brooklyn and staten island and lower manhattan.my temp hovered at 26 to 27 degrees pretty much thru the whole event.

Heavy snow and for the first time today some blowing snow in Port Jefferson @ 6:45 PM...another 1.1 inches in the past hour; now 5.5 inches on the day. Temp 28.5 F...dewpoint 26.5 F...humidity 92 %. Pressure 30.22" and falling.

Now 6.0 inches of snow Port Jeff 7:45 PM...1/2 inch in the last hour; but snow appeared to be increasing in intensity at the time of the measurement.

Parts of western ocean reporting 7-8. They were in that band for about 3 hours before we were in wall. Totally believable. After driving around all afternoon I hope I never have to read another sun angle or sticking on pavement posts again. Tell that to the dozens of cars littered all over Monmouth and Ocean counties.

All in all, a nice wintry day here. Down in Monmouth county earlier I experienced probably the heaviest snow i've seen all season. Back home here in NE-NJ, we ended up with about 2.5" or so. As i suspected yesterday, the 4-6" upton call and the 3-6" calls (at least for my neck of the woods) were overdone. I was expecting 3" (2-4"), so I'll take it ! Still some on and off flakes in the air. This was a very nice hit for areas of central NJ south of here, as well as Long Island. This year, along with the past few years, those areas from central NJ (say Monmouth County) headed into Long Island seem to be getting hammered !
