Definitely a good rule up there. You never know what will happen. Always have to be prepared.

Although sometimes in Pittsburg the problem is too many people on the trails. Gets very busy up there on the weekends.

Your just asking for trouble if riding alone, Up here in the NW part of the state it's very remote with no cell service and in some cases you need to have a gas caddy on hand so you don't run out between places that have gas

I still have one part of my yard covered in snow but it's basically the last area in the neighborhood.  The woods still have some pretty sizable patches.  I'm hoping those will be enough to give me some additional sap through the end of the week even without the subfreezing nights.  I'm way behind on my syrup production!

I was talking to a guy last night who has a 250 tap backyard operation and he said this has been his worst season ever.  He has only made 2 gallons so far.

I am still not buying this call for flip to summer by some, days 6-10 look pretty sweet and warmer but signs of  11-15 being chilly continue and the EPO tanks again.

We almost never just flip to summer in April...we get tastes of it and then get 2-3 days of BDF drizzle misery, then another nice day or two, then a chilly CAA day in the low 50s...rinse repeat...that type of stuff.

I think this will be no different. We'll finally get our first taste of true mild/warm air, but it's not going to last.

I hate those warm seasons where we push 90F in Apr-mid May and then JJA is mostly crud except for a warm, sunny stretch to end Aug or into Sep. I don't want my high for the year in Apr, May, or Sep.
