CapturedNature
Well dews and temps in the 50's with wind rain are going to do a number on it. Think 1996 The snow cover is going to take a hit, that's for sure but I think there will be more left than you're thinking.

HoarfrostHubb
How is that damage $50k? Wow... Does all the sheet rock and insulation got to be redone? Ceilings? Wiring? Will insurance cover it? That sucks
Brian5671
1996 took 3 or 4 cutters to get rid of it here. If that's really solid ice, it's going nowhere in one storm.

HoarfrostHubb
I could see my 15-16" base being down to 8" or so with more bare spots showing... an ugly death of snowpack upcoming Hopefully the salt will be washed off the roads

That sucks All of interior walls are coming out. All of the insulation is soaked. They came in with infrared cameras to see all of the water damage. Entire kitchen coming out. Liberty mutual initial adjustor $1,200 in damage Second water mitigation specialist came out...no real water damage. I decided to start cutting holes in my walls. "well what do you know, water everywhere". Second adjustor $10k in damage. Public adjustor I hired $50k- $60k

He melts it to CAR everytime it rains from Dec-Mar. The real damage may be more like Friday or so before it tries to freeze up at night. Usually like it takes the first day to ripen the pack and a cold pack puts up with it for like 24-36 hours, but then from 36-48 hours it starts to flow fast...it'll take some time to losen it up if you guys are standing on 18" of ice. Yeah, I was talking about this back during the first wave of melt...the pack really ripened to like a 3 to 1 W.E. ratio, but it didn't all release because before it had a chance, we froze it solid again...and got very cold. The temp of that pack really cooled back big time, so it's been tough to melt it off until the whole thing warms up again. I could see the damage being slow in the first 12-18 hours of the torch and then finally gaining some momentum. But we'll refreeze it again on the weekend. I would say a Public adjustor is almost always best way to go, no? You had to cut freakin holes in your wall to show those "experts" there is something wrong, I mean c'mon smells like adjustors working for insurance company's are low balling people to save company money (if I understand the process correctly)
ORH_wxman
It's almost Napril. This is different The dynamics of melting snow don't change just because it is late in the year. The sun angle being higher will cause some more sublimation...but we need more than that to rid ourselves of a 15" glacier and in any case, Thursday will be quite cloudy. A 50F light rain event will act pretty similar to winter in this case with a bit of sun angle aid. We're coming off some cold weather so the pack temperature is pretty low...so we'll lose a chunk...but the areas that have 12"+ aren't going in one day. You had to cut freakin holes in your wall to show those "experts" there is something wrong, I mean c'mon smells like adjustors working for insurance company's are low balling people to save company money (if I understand the process correctly) Three things are happening 1) Insurance adjustors are not qualified builders. They find only what they know to find. 2) Insurance companies software on how much it costs to do work in the northeast vs how much its costs in Indiana are night and day. 3) They instructed to not go probing into walls. I have foil backed sheetrock common in 1980s builds. The moisture meters were reading zero. When I showed the adjustors that I had tons of water damage in the basement ceiling (above grade) they played dumb. The only way it could be getting there was through the walls from the roof. They blamed broken pipes in the walls for which I had to prove to them wasn't the case but actually cutting into walls.
