Analogs/-EPO suggest another cool summer like last year so those looking for heat and humidity will likely be disappointed and will have to do some spinning of 62 degree dews as "high dews" and 82 degree temps as "deep summer"

I'm not sure I disagree here, actually... I started a thread a while ago re next winter and NCEP's early thinking, but also mentioned I thought this could be a NW flow summer -- mild, dry.   MCS' perhaps as they round the semi perm heat ridge to the SW.  Heat tends to get shunted by a mean flow that has a the summer version of the +PNAP.

And, ...this is quite similar to last summer.  I was actually surprised that the pattern flipped shortly after August like it did.  Last summer was really muted version of the winter pattern before.  But it went away throughout much of the autumn. That TG event really was tied into a different series of synoptic events and was rather fluke. The -EPO of last winter returned with a vengeance this last go of it... But I am wondering if the same sort of termination of winter ends up smoothing out to another dimmed version of the cool season.

Tough to tell. We went through about an 18 mo to 2 solid year warm departure phase, and I am not sure we are done with this current cool one.  We could get a hot summer, and still end up cold this next winter and still technically be in the longer term tendency, too.

Interesting.

Curious as to how tomorrow works out. I'm leaning crappy for a chunk of the region, esp near BOS. Might be better in CT..but this looks like classic WF crud of a day. This cold isn't going anywhere fast.

yeah it's going to be near 40 until mid - late afternoon from HVN northeast. We locked in cold and drizzle.hate this nonsense

Agree.   These backdoor maritime airmasses are tough to kick out once in, and often they are modeled to lift out too early.  I'd be shocked if I hit 50 before 5pm...maybe a late day high type of deal.

I'm surprised how bullish models are for warmer wx tomorrow aftn....esp around here. I gotta take the under here at least through mid aftn. There isn't a big HP damming us, but I don't see much to flush out the leftover cruddy airmass.

friends said snow did not melt at all today up north and lt snow still accumulating, April

I was surprised when I went out to my car for the first time at 3:30 yesterday afternoon to find 3/4 inch of the solid sn/ip/zr that needing 'elbow-grease scraping'.  It looks like I've retained much of the snow and sleet cover that came two nights ago and yesterday.  Not sure what fell overnight, my guess it was a zr and rn mix.

31.1/30

Anyone else get the occasional adult friend finder popup when visiting Paul's mesomap site now?

i got one the other day when i clicked the NNE meso link, it was a bit more graphic than AFF though. it wasn't even a pop-up, it was a complete re-direct to whatever nasty site it was
