bowtie`
First image of the new year. Still kind of chilly outside. Was surprised to see ice still in the retention pond though. Was a medium quality sun halo today. Sunset was nothing special but being the first of the year I have imaged it still felt great to do. P.S. In case anyone would like to know, I will be deleting the 2014 thread to make room to add this years crop.
bowtie`
OK, I was wrong. It could get better than last night. And it did tonight. A magnificent sunset. @16mm @23mm These were shot with a full-frame sensor, for the few playing the camera weeniecide game.

bowtie`
Thanks. Those glorious still evenings are rare in the Spring. Makes a person enjoy them all that much more.
bowtie`
A jet engine post sunset, inside another jet engine. This is a straight single image. Got plenty of contrast help with just the NGD filter alone.
bowtie`
This evening's event. Actual sunset-white clouds... yellow clouds... Light orange clouds... Deep Orange clouds (it never really went red except on the horizon)...
bowtie`
What this evening looked like. It had the right amount of clouds, but never really took off. What little orange flash that there was...
bowtie`
The effort of the evening. The low dark clouds are courtesy of the departing system to the northeast. The high clouds are courtesy of the system in Texas and Louisiana. Gave me something to shoot on both sides of the sunset.
bowtie`
Another good evening at the retention pond. HDR Single Image
bowtie`
The cold front/dry line gave me some clouds to shoot this evening. Four or five measly mammatus in the middle of this image, if you squint a little bit. Looking southwest. Looking east at the back side of the line. Sunset colors on the backside of the line. Looking south.
bowtie`
I think I might have missed a good sunset. Life has a way of getting in the way of photos at times. This is all that was left by the time I was able to break free.
bowtie`
From the pond this evening. The clouds that got me out there. The sunset As good as it was going to get.

bowtie`
Another evening at the pond. When I got there. Post sunset was kind of blah. Not much going on to the west. At least some clouds to the south. I should have moved to the east side of the pond but that is quite a hike and I felt I did not have time to do that. Best clouds and color were to the southeast. Also a bright moon in here also.

bowtie`
I was really hoping for rain this evening so I could catch up on some rest. Not to be though. At the pond once again. When I got there. Pre-sunset. Best dynamics. Post-sunset.
bowtie`
Departing systems can sometimes make for decent sunsets. When I got to the pond. Some interesting looking skies as the sunset progressed. Post sunset was kind of interesting. It is always a race with dry air intruding as to whether the clouds stick around long enough .
bowtie`
Originally I was not going to go out and take pics of the sunset. I was taking pics of the courthouse downtown when I noticed as the sun got lower and lower that there was a few wisps of clouds on the horizon. So I took a chance and ventured out to the pond. With some contrails getting in on the action. Zoomed in a little bit later.

bowtie`
While this evening was not the best color, it was dead calm and that made for some great reflection images.
bowtie`
Things kind of escalated rather rapidly out at the pond this evening. When I got there, warm and sunny... The clouds rapidly infiltrated the area. Here comes the cold air. The temp dropped radically when this went overhead.

bowtie`
Every-now-and-then we get lucky and break the grey and gloom cycle. Today at sunset was one of those days. Too bad in never really calmed down with the wind. The color turned out to be great though.
bowtie`
Nothing special this evening. But there was three or four layers of clouds. So a cloud weenie like myself was in a good mood.
bowtie`
And now for something completely different for me. A mid-afternoon shot of the clouds while out at the municipal park. For this image I broke out the 24mm-70mm and also the circular polarizer. Have not had either on the camera in quite a long period of time.
