Yeah , that one blowing up on 26, looks pretty stout !

This is gonna be a good one I think.  Best lightning I've seen in a long time.  Nearly continuous.  Should be here within 10-15 minutes.

Edit:  I know it's getting later, but it's been almost completely dark for the last 20 minutes.  It looks like it's about 9:30 outside right now.

Some of those echos on nexrad are maxing out the scale.

You better make a Taco Bell run real quick and get some boueancy back into the atmosphere.

Boueancy has a lot of different vowels all next to each other. I never thought about that before. Haha!

Buoyancy is how we spell it in Johnston County :)

I was wondering if we were going to get any cells firing out ahead of that main disturbance... looks like there are a few.

MESOSCALE DISCUSSION 1400

NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK

0706 PM CDT MON JUL 13 2015

AREAS AFFECTED...PORTIONS OF CNTRL/SRN VA...CNTRL/WRN NC...NRN SC

CONCERNING...SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 412...414...415...

VALID 140006Z - 140130Z

THE SEVERE WEATHER THREAT FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH

412...414...415...CONTINUES.

SUMMARY...WHILE SOME THREAT FOR DAMAGING WINDS/MARGINALLY SEVERE

HAIL CONTINUES WITH NEW CONVECTION AHEAD OF AN E/SEWD-PROGRESSING

CONVECTIVE SYSTEM...A MARKED DOWNWARD TREND IN INTENSITY HAS BEEN

OBSERVED WITH THIS LINE OVER THE LAST 1-2 HOURS. AS SUCH...NO NEW

WATCH ISSUANCE IS EXPECTED THIS EVENING ACROSS THE REGION.

DISCUSSION...RECENT DATA FROM REGIONAL WSR-88DS INDICATE A

NOTICEABLE DOWNWARD TREND IN REFLECTIVITY CORES...AS WELL AS OUTFLOW

ADVANCING AWAY FROM SEVERAL OF THESE CORES. THEREFORE...THE

WIDESPREAD DAMAGING WIND THREAT WITH THIS LONG-LIVED /BUT DECAYING/

MCS APPEARS TO BE RAPIDLY DIMINISHING. HOWEVER...PRIOR DIURNAL

HEATING TO THE EAST OF THE LINE AND AMPLE MOISTURE HAS YIELDED

FAIRLY ROBUST CONVECTION ACROSS PORTIONS OF CNTRL VA/NC AND NRN SC.

THE PRESENCE OF 1000-2000 J/KG OF MLCAPE AND EFFECTIVE SHEAR UPWARDS

OF 35-40 KTS /PER RAX VWP DATA AND MESOANALYSIS/ SHOULD OFFER ENOUGH

UPDRAFT ORGANIZATION TO MAINTAIN SOME THREAT FOR DAMAGING

WINDS/MARGINALLY LARGE HAIL THIS EVENING. HOWEVER...WITH THE LOSS OF

INSOLATION...CELLS SHOULD EXHIBIT AN OVERALL WEAKENING TREND THROUGH

THE MID-LATE EVENING HOURS AND NO NEW WW ISSUANCE IS ANTICIPATED.

Good grief. That's a legitate iPhone suggested spelling. I didn't think it looked right, but I thought the iPhone would know, so I went with it. :arrowhead:

This one not as impressive as the middle of it weakened as it moved over me.  Not hugely surprising since we got worked over with the storm an hour earlier.  Still though, heavy rain and I could hear a few pieces of small hail.  There was some pretty good gusts at the beginning, but nothing severe.  Looks like the strongest part of the storm is heading more west now, where the atmosphere hasn't been worked over.  More storms still firing in N Spartanburg, so we may get quite a good bit of rain this evening.

Hopefully some of this makes its way to the midlands, but im not confident.

That's what you get for buying your iPhone out of the trunk of Bubba's car.  It's not LEGITATE.  :)

Well I'm back after the 2nd best storm so far this year, with winds at least up to 50mph, tons of lightning, and 1.33 inches of rain.

Well, you've been saying it would take a tropical storm or hurricane... Claudette formed today... #winning
