The dry air is moving in at the surface.  Its causing your snow to sublimate.

 

 

Never thought of that. Where do you find that information?

 

I think he stayed at a Holiday Inn last night, lol.  Great insight, Ray - assume it's cold air advection and it's denser than the air it's displacing and it's drier, too, so it has to be saturated via the snow falling from above.  Snow also didn't start out as heavily as I would've thought based on the radar - after about an hour of mostly light snow we have about 1/4 to 3/8" (eyeballing this one).  Intensity is picking up, though.

PHL is gonna have a tough time getting above 3". Anywhere around that area for that matter. Just my opinion

I will certainly let you know in Media Delaware County 13 miles west southwest of the airport 32f white winter wonderland here 0.4" all surfaces and trees covered post card like light to moderate snow
