Rjay
I'm never there really to measure anymore except occasionally, I think my reports up through 2007 were largely high anyway because I didn't realize I was getting blowoff from the roof The spotter in Merrick was off by 1.9" exactly in all likelihood. Also the Bellmore spotter is always one of the lowest totals. Dsnowx and I always end up with very similar measurements which makes me feel more confident in my totals. WintersGrasp
What a beautiful snowfall today and what terrible road conditions. Not nearly as many plows and salters as with the other events/non-events. I finally hit 6" and came in around 6.25"

SleetStormNJ
What a beautiful snowfall today and what terrible road conditions. Not nearly as many plows and salters as with the other events/non-events. I finally hit 6" and came in around 6.25" Due to the number of events already (even the little 1-2 inch ones) as well as the frequency of the cold/freezing conditions, a lot of towns have blown through their allocated winter budgets and really put a toll on their resources (trucks, equipment, salt, manpower). ag3
Any reports out of Staten? They snowed longer than almost anyone and had heavy rates the entire time. If anyone cracked 10 inches in the immediate area I'd guess there. I think the extreme NE section of Queens got 9"10" as well. The Bayside spotter hasn't updated yet. Maybe we should follow Chevy Chase's advice; when asked by Judge Smails what he shot at golf...he said he doesn't keep score...the judge asked how he measures himself against other golfers; he replied "by height". Perhaps adopting a no measuring rule would reduce the amount of controversy that seems so prevalent...

jm1220
The Long Beach spotter is usually good but can be off sometimes (I hope I'm not talking about Bluewave!!)-I remember on 1/12/11 he/she was low by a couple of inches. We had at least 10" but the spotter I think only had 7.5". He/she also isn't good about sending in a final total-on 12/19/09 the spotter had 15" but it snowed heavily for 3 hours afterward. I wish he/she sent in totals more frequently since I know the Oceanside spotter is bad, always too high.

jm1220
GEFS were north of the op a billion times. That was one of the bigger red flags to me that the OP was too suppressed. Although maybe the OP saw the dry air at the northern fringe that caused the far northern suburbs to see just flurries. Boston at the end had over 0.25" QPF on some models but saw only flurries. Dry air was a bigger factor in eroding the snow than I thought.
rgwp96
Good to see many over perform . What's funny is the models had me being shafted by a few miles and they were right. I had 3 inches while places 5 miles to my sw had 5-8 inches . Oh well 19 otg so I can't complain much
