Voyager
We're just about "over the hump" climatologically, although August can be a doozy, and Fall is not far away. Such a depressing thought...

iceman56
This has been the most comfortable 'heat wave' I can recall. Daily highs 83/84 here in NW Chesco with nights cooling to upper 50s/low 60s. Just about normal for early August.
RedSky
Another front that looks like garbage. If my area misses this rain it would be only .85" rain since mid July going into Friday a three weeks span during peak heat. Needless to say that system on Friday needs to deliver big time. Birds~69
Well, the first little patch went to my N and it looks like the second larger one to the W will do the same.

Birds~69
DP already at 71F where yesterday stayed around 65F or lower. Hopefully we get some T-storms later today....
Chief83
Worcester - Picked up .67 over night. One close lightning strike , but not much of a storm. Did bring down a nice size tree and wires. Then a driver drove right under the tree and damaged the roof of his car. Said he never saw the tree. Had the tree been about 6" lower then it would have gone into the windshield. Bad news for sure. Heisy
We supposed to get storms tonight? Thunder woke me up at 5am this AM here in NE Philly, it was in the distance, but it sounded loud. I imagine based on the radar that people south of the city got a nice storm, any reports?

I am standing on the sidewalk in front of my house...in Tamaqua...and I can see the lightning in the cloud tops from the storm in South Jersey. Incredible!!! I imagine based on the radar that people south of the city got a nice storm, any reports? Thunder kept me awake from around 2:15 AM - most of the action slid N of northern Mercer County, into Somerset and NE NJ. I got .39" Someone must have gotten more . . Another maybe weaker round went S of Philly into S NJ.

Kevin Reilly
New GFS has the area completely missing the Thursday-Fri rain! Hey isn't this just like watching a snowstorm not being able to turn the corner and missing us to the south?

RedSky
Yeah - I was looking forward to the cool off, even if it was badly timed for the weekend. Things are getting dry. Yeah I have veggie crops and my critical period of time that I need rain is mid July through early August. Less than 1" this year this growing seasons precipitation has been the worst never mind the cumulative totals to date.
RedSky
Hey isn't this just like watching a snowstorm not being able to turn the corner and missing us to the south? Both that and the models keep drenching us 7 days out and it never materializes, yup exactly like winter it is.
JTA66
Time to break out the wintertime cliches ... Typical GFS SE bias at play. Euro is leaving too much energy behind. Boxing Day! Radar returns are 10 miles further north than the models predicted.
stemwinder
I love a decent coastal this time of year. Usually a nice cool off, and the crops benefit, except that the tomatoes may pop. Don't need to worry about the R/S line, either.
KamuSnow
It's been raining here since a little after 8 pm. Light, but steady. 67F. Kind of a nice surprise after the fade south the last couple of days.
