FallsLake
In a few weeks we're going to start worrying about spring freezes. A lot of us are now wishing for warmer weather, but we really need the temps to stay cool for another couple of weeks; especially at night. If we get a lot of warm temps in early to mid March then that inevitable early April freeze will do a lot of damage.

downeastnc
Got into a new house the end of last summer and really have a lot of work to do landscaping wise, no trees and almost a acre. Plan on flower/herb gardens around the front and sides and then a decent size garden in the back. Not sure whether to do a raised garden or dig up a section of the yard. My father in law has been composting for decades and I got access to lots of crazy good soil.
wx n of atl
Going to do the pre-emergent this weekend on my Bermuda grass. Also I need to find out when does everyone aerate their yards. Wife got me into gardening (love it and hate it). Squash, Tomatoes (big and small ones), Sweet Potatoes, sugar snap peas, zucchini , red, yellow, green bell peppers; carrots, garlic, onions, cucumbers, strawberries, blueberries / raspberries / blackberries/ lettuce and egg plant the skinny white kind and the big purple kind. And some mint, basil, sage, I will post some pictures when we start the process this spring/summer.

POWERSTROKE
little to early for this thread, still some winter to go here. Negative you need to get fertilizer out so it's in the soil when it warms up. Winter can continue but pre m needs to be in ground when soil reaches 55degrees
mackerel_sky
Hell, my Bermuda is about to green up, with 2- 80 degree days mixed in with basically 70s for about a week! It's amazing what a few days of really warm weather can do to flora! Have daffodils in full bloom, creeping flox has a few open flowers, rest of buds about to pop! Leaves coming out on spirea, leaves breaking on the oak leaf hydrangeas, few leaves showing on reg hydrangeas, flowers swelling on ornamental cherrys! Spring is definately in the air, as well as pollen !

downeastnc
I got dandelions, onion grass, clover and the weed with the little purple flowers everywhere......I just moved here end of the summer last year so this is my first spring here, luckily the yard is mostly Bermuda and some centipede overall. We also had fire ants everywhere last year so I am looking for a yard treatment to put down early to try and keep them under control we got lots of kids playing in our yard in the summer. Anyone have any success stories with fire ant prevention, I have heard several say the Over and Out brand works well as a full yard treatment. Need this week of dry weather we are suppose to have so I can get some flower beds dug and garden laid out.

It's a winter weed and will die when temps stay above 80. Got to put pre -emergent down in fall , to keep henbit out! Over and out is a good whole yard fire any granule, just spread with a fertilizer spreader!

FallsLake
The chance of a widespread SE frost and freeze is not great the next 7 days. But the northern parts of NC and southern Va. do have a chance on day 7 (according to the 6z GFS): http://www.twisterdata.com/index.php?prog=forecast&model=GFS&grid=3&model_yyyy=2015&model_mm=03&model_dd=16&model_init_hh=06&fhour=174¶meter=TMPF&level=2&unit=M_ABOVE_GROUND&maximize=n&mode=singlemap&sounding=n&output=image&view=large&archive=false
FallsLake
This is way off in fantasy land, but something like this would cause widespread agricultural damage; especially with all the warmth that precedes it. http://mag.ncep.noaa.gov/Image.php?image=data%2Fgfs%2F06%2Fgfs_namer_360_850_temp_mslp_precip.gif&model=gfs&area=namer&storm=&cycle=06¶m=850_temp_mslp_precip&fhr=360&group=Model+Guidance&imageSize=M&ps=model&use_mins=no&preselected_formatted_cycle_date=20150316+06+UTC&scrollx=0&scrolly=
