Who cares...they're snow maps..there are like 20 posts looking at soundings and describing the uncertainty across the region as to precip type.

The sleet will give a nice base layer for the snow here. ;)  I think everyone needs to come to the realization that we will probably have a period of sleet especially near DC.  2-4/3-5 is still on track it appears.

I just want big rates - I hate 6 hours of light snow.

Here's a full list:

-more snow

city folk always have an overblown sense of how great it is to live in the city

tons of great places to eat out this way, never need to stress over parking, and we have taxation with representation

plus, we can come and go to/from the city as we please

the only dc proper envy i have is recently semi legal green stuff

Matt has the right approach. The mets are telling us forecast soundings are better than forecast thicknees. Forecast snow maps three days out are good for wrapping fish heads.

Yoda's PBP of 21z SREF is going to be huge.

Just makes it easier for the snow to stick to absolutely everything when it does come down. :)

I don't know why you care about the greenery you sit around and smoke it all day anyways.

I grew up in two towns of less than 5,000 and one less than 20,000 so I know the city isn't the greatest thing ever. Tho if I wanted to live in not the city it may not be this area.. Jobs are good though. I kinda like the 80 dew point obs too.. Ain't getting that in Manchester.

In a perfect world with high speed rail, I'd live in Northern Maryland probably.

Ian's aware of that. I was posting it to make fun of it. Maybe it is right, and DCA will have a 9z 850mb temp of +10.1

Next run it might miss us to the south too.

Hi! Sorry, I was just wondering, are those the NWS forecasts? It seems like they follow CWA boundaries. I didn't know they made specific snow accumulation forecasts this far in advance.

That is precisely why I entitled the post "Hmmm". I don't know who issues those forecasts, but I know those maps aren't model generated.

What is the NDFD?As the foundation of the NWS Digital Services Program, the National Digital Forecast Database (NDFD) consists of gridded forecasts of sensible weather elements (e.g., cloud cover, maximum temperature). NDFD contains a seamless mosaic of digital forecasts from NWS field offices working in collaboration with the National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP).

Yes. My forecast is for snow/rain Wed night with 1-2". Snow likely on Thursday. But that period is too far out to give accums, so even tho thats when the bulk of the snow would fall, they dont give accum for that period. Basically that map is more worthless than a model total snowfall map.
