We pray this lasts until tonight, and then we pray for clear conditions. Kp 8 might normally facilitate visible aurora as far south as northern Virginia.

Ha, I came on specifically to ask you about that! Any suggestions on what might be decent vantage points around the valley to view an aurora?

Heh, glad to help. ;) If I were chasing, I'd probably try to find a spot like this one along the river, with a clear view to the north(ish). There must be a suitable hilltop somewhere, but I can't immediately think of it... obviously the further north you get, the better. Anybody ambitious enough to head for the Ashokan would probably have a great view looking north from the causeway (Reservoir Road I think?); it's got minimal light pollution, some extra latitude, and a fairly unobstructed horizon. It'd be a bit of a haul for most folks, but this is the first Kp 8 geomagnetic storm in four or five years, so who knows...

Definitely should have been a wind advisory the last couple hours. The winds were nuts between building in manhattan. Strongest since I started working here in early January.

if there was a button that sent you out to North Pole and leave you there for good for you to watch the aurora borealis, I would press it!

Shall i post the PM of you promising not to post until next winter if we "got a norlun" last weekend? Maybe consider taking a break.

Okay your right I made a mistake at least I admit it. I was just busting chops with forky as he always picks on me and this is actually the first time I picked on him. Sorry. Also at least there was snow for Boston breaking their all time snow record but the norlun did not setup the way I thought.

Not quite sure why your knickers are in a twist, so there really isn't much to say. If you don't like me, please ignore me. I'll do the same to you. I'll leave you to your ramblings.

I do like you M!!!   I was playing!!!  I just wanted to see if you were tough enough to join my clique...

Glinda was quite beautiful, regardless of her age. She was not treated well, until the end, in wicked. You, to me will always appear as a rainbow, not after but during the storm.

.... as always

If I should ever leave this dimension...I think I'm going to miss you most of all!!!

*Cries happily*

That's a very solid high end WA event even low end HWW. Surprised not even an advisory.

Small branches down on campus. And leaves everywhere which I now have to remove. Not terribly damaging as we had the trees culled real well the last few years but we have been through that at length to the point it's getting boring. Back in the 80s this could have been the windiest day in any given year and turned heads.

Got some new camera gear, want to try and see the northern lights tonight. Anyone know the best places in Northern New Jersey to set up? Places like high point would be ideal, although I know the gates aren't open all night. Maybe places along the Delaware water gap?

It's probably not going to be too visible, but I'll get some sunrise shots either way.
